What Zero Could've Been

I think some of your points are worth considering but maybe you overstate the case. I don't have any problem with the character but it is the exact same pace we've seen dozens of times.

I'd argue the pace is a little different this time around.
Her relationship with us is purely professional right now, our goals are aligned because she benefits from it. She don't really care about our objectives.

Now i wonder if it will stay similar when Zero's character arc is complete.
Will she become another character that just tag along and do what's right just because it's good, or will she gain new objectives of her own ?

I really hope that Estinien and Zero have their own agency coming into the next expansion (if she tag along).
Or at least that they come with us for the adventure/discovery and not because we have to save something. That way they can figure out a goal once we're there.

I'll say this: If Estinien and G'raha have set the bar in order to become a Scion, Zero has a long way to go. I'm indifferent to her character right now, and found the mystery surrounding Zeno's avatar much more interesting. Now that we know who and what she is, my interest level has waned. Personally speaking, I hope her arc ends during EW. At this point, I am looking more to drop some Scions than to add to the roster.

I personally don't think she will become a Scion.
I'm more inclined to think that the following patches will be about her learning to care about her home again, resulting in her staying there attempting to make it better.

It's exactly the same pacing as Gaia X Ryne

We've seen it before. I don't mind it, but we've seen it before, and OP is acting like this is some new problem.

Nowhere has it shown Zero doesn't truly like us nor has she been antagonistic either. She's straight forward n to the point. She goes along with us as a measure to keep her word.

Yeah. For the moment, her relationship with the group is mostly transactional. She has, however, hinted at being able to tolerate everyone's company without the need for a give and take. So, I do picture her softening up eventually, I just hope it's not excessive like with certain other characters. Gaia and Ryne...that was such a weak plot all around, in my opinion. It all felt so rushed. They tried to replicate the whole Squall and Rinoa dynamic and I feel that they failed to capture what made that interesting and satisfying in the first place. I hope Zero has more time to grow.

I thought the pacing of Gaia and Ryne (I don't ship them like others do) was decent. It wasn't a strong point for me though. I do believe that has to do with the fact her character is tied to a raid series (tho the current one is REALLY good with its characters so eh...)

But yeah Zero benefits from being an msq character
