Should there be Exploration Dungeons just for Gatherers and Crafters?

Just something that's been raddling in my head for a while now. As a gatherer, we go in and explore old dungeons that are expanded to resemble those in a typical MMORPG, but its just for looking for rare plants, artifacts, strange fish/beasts, while avoiding traps and monsters that'll try to kill you and solving fun little puzzles and riddles to proceed further into said dungeons.

Think of Indiana Jones, Tome Raider and Uncharted.

Meanwhile, crafting classes are used to revitalize and make use of whatever you bring back out. So if you find and come out with a bunch of chunks of stone that turns out to be many pieces of an ancient statue, as a goldsmith, you or a friend restores it depending on how many pieces that are required to do so and then once its restored, it gives you a neat little journal entry or something in a explorers booklet you carry around telling you the history behind the restored statue. And on top of that, it could be used as a indoor/outdoor decoration for your house/apartment.

    Thoughts?

    sounds like WoW archaeology.

I mean decent idea, just not sure how viable would be as an implementation

As long as they are not in place of normal ones I say yes. I will never touch them but I see no reason why not.

Oh I think FF 14 can do better than THAT utter failure.

Viable? As in what kind of money you can make from it??? Or what useful items you could create from the feature that you can bring into trials and raids?

Nah; nothing of the sort. It would be a way to furrher expand upon the lore of old dungeons that we've really only partially explored, plus it would be another new neat way to spend time finding rare stuff you can make into high powered potions are something or new furniture and lawn ornaments.

Also, I can see this as both solo and party content. So you can have fun with your friends and FC mates while exploring these exploration dungeons.

Don't entirely know about WoW's archeology system, but definitely FFXIV can do better. So ling as they don't go overboard with the complexity of things and keep things simple and fun. Lord of Verminion is a good example of what not do with a minion vs minion battle type game.

Can make some sense, though for some dungeons, I'm not sure how it'd work.
Like a Certain Home deep in the forest.
not so much sense the first time.<Cur-sed the second>
or a Once and done event/dungeon, that kinda has no sense to be able to relive it, once it's done due to the opponent/enemy being handled beforehand.

that said, I think if it was the home deep in the forest it makes sense to be able to harvest or reclaim and repair the damage of what was there(though we'd basically be looters/opportunists not that it's bad depending on the circumstance)

and the other example would force the devs to flesh out examples they used as stage props in that dungeon. if they plan to tell a story, or be able to craft something from what can be taken.

though for future dungeons and content.
if we have a lot more adventuring, it could make sense for a lot of dungeons or locations that have long since been abandoned.
<but there is a noticeable, yet small chunk of locations where there may be conflict if we do.>

great idea though over all if they do it right.
    [Specially with already existing systems.
Miners cut/pick rock/hard surfaces to retrieve old/repairable materials. Botanists harvest any possible exotic nature. Fishers reel in as usual. And crafters could technically remove parts. though anything else from actual mobs will stick to the normal version of the dungeon]

I like the idea. It would be nice to get DoH and DoL content that doesn't all focus around just sitting and crafting or running around from node to node gathering. EQII did something very similar with its tradeskill system with missions.

Maybe certain old dungeons like Haukke Manor could be designated as a site in need a restoration and refurbished into something else. Think of the Ishgardian and Doman Restoration. That's how places like Hauke Manor coild be handled. Plus, Haukke Manor isn't technically owned by anybody at the moment, unless Lady Amedine has any relatives in the area willing to inherit her cursed manor.

The Elder Seedseer could petition help in restoring Haukke Manor to its fotmer glory to ready and willikg adventurers. And whatever we find in there is ours to keep, while they work to purifty and banish any remaining voidsent that still remain in the manor.

It would be a nice game changer. I'm not sure what EQ2 is but it seems like something Yoshi-P and his crew should be looking at for some inspiration. ;3

Those tradeskill missions were there as a way to get alt currency, faction and have people engage in some group content. The focus was crafting with minimal gathering and not using any of your personal resources. XIV already has plenty of that going on with tribes and deliveries.

XIV crafting and gathering already has a ton of options. Using dungeons for crafting and gathering wouldn't add much other than aesthetics. The core process is still the same. If you want a change of scenery, take yourself out into the open world areas. There are plenty of safe spots to craft.
