Wish they would increase the cap for Nuts. If the new stuff for upgrading the Causality gear requires Nuts as did the stuff for upgrading the Astronomy gear, it would be nice not having to waste Nuts on junk just to avoid going over cap.

Wait, why did the Astronomy gear require nuts? Or do you just mean obtaining it faster than via the weekly Aglaia coin? (Since yeah, when the alliance raid is current, it has that weekly loot restriction.)
I've always just assumed the nuts were meant to be the "I want to grind for all of them now" path for gear upgrades, e.g., you can buy the stuff, then go grind more nuts, buy more of the stuff, etc. It's not that you're meant to stockpile the currency ahead of time to be able to buy all the stuff right away, but rather "I spent all my nuts on the stuff, but I'm not restricted on how many I can earn in a week so I can just go grind out more if I'm feeling impatient". Whereas the alliance raid coins were the "I'm good getting one thing upgraded this week and waiting, no grinding for me" path.
My understanding is that it's more a catch-up mechanic.
Basically, the even-numbered patches introduce new combat gear, but that gear is only really relevant to savage when first introduced, and so savage is the only way you get the highest tier of it -- whether that's the raid gear itself, or the upgrade items for tomestone gear. (I mean, also, if they let you get the tomestone upgrade items right away, people would be in i630 gear very very quickly and the savage gear wouldn't be terribly meaningful stats-wise.)
But the devs don't want to leave the rest of the playerbase beyond, so once the raids have been out for their entire even-numbered patch, the odd-numbered patches introduce ways for folks who don't do savage raiding to get their gear ilevel up as well; alliance raid gear that's almost as good as the savage raid or augmented tomestone gear, ways to get the augmentation items for tomestone gear, etc.
That way, even non-savage raiders have avenues to now improve their gear and be more or less on even footing with the savage raiders gear-wise. (At least in terms of ilevel, even if the savage folks in BiS may have more optimal substats. But as optimizing substats is really only relevant in savage...)
Then the next even-numbered patch lands, along with the next raid tier (and tier of combat gear), and the process starts over again.

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

The cap is fine where it is. This is the 2nd expansion where we get to acquire Nuts and bicolors for goods. Raising or eliminating the cap on either would mean having to make yet another currency. How is it a waste? You always need materia for something or there'll be someone looking to buy it.
Use the nuts to buy Moonward gear to level desynthesis (at 570, it's great for getting to the current 610 cap).
If your desynthesis is capped or you don't care about it, buy materia to store until 6.4. All that saved up materia I sold the first week of 6.2 was very profitable.
The cap is there to get you to use the currency instead of hoard it. If you genuinely think that nuts are only good for buying junk, then why care about them being capped when you can ignore them instead.

Kupo!
The only useful things left to me to buy with nuts are the materials to upgrade gear. Buying more materia is a waste when I have HUNDREDS of clusters for both Tier 9 and Tier 10 from doing hunt trains. Additionally I am not a crafter so buying items to desynth is not an option for me. I'm not asking for them to blow the cap wide open though. Maybe doubling it might allow me to upgrade two or three pieces of gear when the new materials are available. Would it really be that problematic to allow players to upgrade a couple of pieces of gear immediately once the new mats become available?Use the nuts to buy Moonward gear to level desynthesis (at 570, it's great for getting to the current 610 cap).

My issue with it is less about upgrading gear faster than it is about not wasting Nuts on things that I have no use for. As for getting into Savage tier, that is not possible for me as I can not do Savage due to my affliction (Parkinsons). To be honest, for the vast majority of activities I can do in the game, the gear is really just overkill but it is fun to have. I just don't like wasting Nuts though. An increase in the Nut cap would allow me to bank a few more of those Nuts. Alternatively, the devs could add other interesting things that could be purchased with Nuts, like more glams or orchestrion rolls or mounts or furnishings or crafting materials (so I can help the crafters in my FC) and that would make me happy too.

Nut vendors have their set offerings and there are other ways to get those other items you're looking for. You can look back at Shadowbringers to see all that's offered once the the tier is complete. My issue with it is less about upgrading gear faster than it is about not wasting Nuts on things that I have no use for. If you want to help the crafters in your FC via adventuring, spend those astronomy tomes on the ingredients for the master recipe components.
I don't know what more to say other than learn to stop viewing this as a loss of nuts. You'll have your reserve for when the upgrade items come out and then it's back to farming, if that's your preferred route. If you're after the hunt achievement mounts, there's no way to avoid capping out currency. Even if they add more items to the vendor, you'll eventually be done with those as well. I stopped doing hunt trains once I got all I needed and I'll pick it up again with 6.3
The offerings of Nut vendors are meager at best and I have long since gotten everything that they had to offer outside of the materia. What is wrong with asking for more things to be added to the list? Yes, eventually I will have gotten any new stuff as well but at least it would keep me busy for a while longer. As for Astronomies, I am already spending them for crafting materials for my FC mates. It means for me that Astronomies are never wasted. It would be nice if they could do something like that for Nuts as well. Hunt trains generate Poetics and Astronomies as well as Causalities and Nuts. The Poetics and Astronomies can be turned in for materials to aid crafters and gardeners. The Causalities get used for the new gear. The Nuts are the odd man out. If you have already gotten all of the fun stuff from the vendors, you are left with mostly just the materia.Nut vendors have their set offerings and there are other ways to get those other items you're looking for.
