And if you need it in writing, oh yeah, I agree with Lyth on most things and even when I don't, their approach has always been neutral from my point of view.

Yeah, I don't come into these forums to join a "team", I don't even know any of the other posters here personally. It's not my responsibility to keep other posters in check or police thier behavior or opinions. I agree with people on the "pro Venat" side sometimes and disagree other times. (Though a lot of my disagreements are not really worth having a discussion over, like me actually really enjoying Emet-Selch as a character. Or thinking it would be fine and good if we explored the culture of the ancients more.)

If there's a problem, bring it to the mods.

I don't think many people who understand Venat's actions and even agree with her disagree with this though, but at this point the ancients need to be thrown out for good if not only to temper this nonsense on the forums.

No thanks. Only a tiny minority of players post here to begin with and one can readily go to any place where the game is discussed and see how highly popular the Ancients are. There's many new pieces of artwork depicting them over on Twitter on any given day, for example.

It's practically inevitable that they'll be given focus again in the future even if it's only in passing and I don't see why that should result in people being denied something they're fond if just because a small but vocal group of forum posters cannot agree to disagree.

It'd also simply grant people the incentive to double down and throw a spanner in the works whenever a character or faction they dislike is brought up in order to encourage the same end goal if it were to happen.

I somehow doubt Square-Enix's decisions on their most popular Final Fantasy XIV characters will be impacted by the staggeringly petty and childish bickering of a dozen people on the internet who urgently need to step back from their screen and touch grass ASAP.

Oh no, don't say that. I really hope that no writing decisions are ever made for the sake of the english lore forums of all places. This place isn't worth compromising what the writers want to do.

You're right, it was more tongue-in-cheek really lol! But I don't think ancients will have much to do in the future anyway, unless the writers cave in and somehow bring Emet and Hythlodaeus back to life purely because they are popular. Which they might.. which I'd be okay with as long as Hythlodaeus is there to kick Emet in the nuts every time he gets annoying.

I don't think Hythlodaeus would kick or knee him in the groin. Maybe threaten him with calling him Hades or a slap. Or even threatening to do even more controversial stuff with Azem. I would love more information on Ancient culture myself due to I think it would help giving some more firm ideas on how to frame their speculation on about some things. As just the small snap shot of Elpis, Final Days Amaurot and Pandeamonium still leaves giant holes I think many would love to get filled in a little more.

Anyone have the latest art book? I know they love to sprinkle in some lore in those. I do remember someone posting a picture of Hythlodaeus concept art. Which sure, is about him specifically, but I do know that sometimes artists like when they did that panel that went into Yotsuyu's design give more than just why they feel a style or look suits said character.

There is a lot I want to know about the ancient world for sure, but they are most likely closing the chapter on the ancients. There is so much of Eorzea and it's many cultures I want to know about as well. Making such a compelling world is truly a curse, when you only have so much time and resources to fully explore it.
