I'll be honest the tank one had me in tears too, but sadly they were of boredom.
It's funny cause this is the second expansion in a row where tanks get the worst role quests.
Wait you didnt like Granson and Branden's story? I mean I guess it's kinda generic tragic story but at least the characters were cool....'cept Sauldia she was boring :v
Well in ShB's case I actually did kinda like that story, it's just the difference between kinda liking it vs REALLY liking the other ones.
It felt like the most "standard job quest chain" one.
Interesting. Personally I found Renda-Rae's story the most "standard". That might be just my bias not liking her character due to how much of an asshole she was anyway. I liked hating her more than wanting to sympathize with her.
Glamour without restrictions* is long overdue!
If you think so too, help keep the thread going!

The Renda-Rae stuff I could take it or leave it, what I enjoyed the most about that quest chain was Lue-Reeq and his dynamic with the WoL as well as his arc. Felt pretty unique.
Maybe I just have a soft spot for catboys.
Oh yeah I think that was probably that story's saving grace, Lue-Reeq's and the WoL's awkward partnership was much more fun and interesting.
While I enjoyed Shb role quests, I think my issue was more so with the whiplash characterization of some of Ardbert's group compared to how they were initially presented when we clashed with them. Granted Ardbert fell into this trap too but he had the fortune of being one of the major supporting characters in an MSQ expansion thus giving him a lot more screentime to dig into his backstory and character dissecting his behavior. We didnt get that with Lamitt, Branden, Renda-Rae and Nyelbert just echoes of what they supposedly were and to me that was too distracting since in my mind I still saw them as these saturday morning cartoon villians who reveled in their antics when they were in the Source.
Its very shallow but the only reason I still dug them was because of their relationship with Ardbert and all of them being based off the 1.0 default race cgi crew. Not because of their character's specifically.
EW's role quests have the benefit of exploring more on pre-established side characters so I was more interested and immersed in their tales than the generic Warriors of Dankness whom we didnt get to see them all fleshed out like Ardbert.

The Endwalker Healer quest was by far my favourites, and actually one of the best quests in the game I would say. I will avoid spoilers, but it had some of my favourite characters show up and be given great development, and I just adore a good redemption story.
Interesting. The EW Tank quest was alright for me (I still think Gridania and their relationship with the Elements is a little messed up, but its nice world building) but for me the Tank Shadowbringer quest was my favorite. Love that little Dwarf haha, and the story really got to me.
I think you might be confusing the tank role quests with the healer ones, as those are the ones with a dwarf in them (who happens to be a tank which is probably the source of your confusion).Interesting. Tank was the one with the Paladin sin eater and Hyur quest giver.
