Once we're not getting any new races, wouldn't it be nice if Elezen's got an update?

Ill be Frank, the Elezen race has a lot of issues. The most common complaints are that their heads are way too small and their walking animations are stiff. In most other games, elves are insanely popular but in FFXIV they aren't because they look really awkward. There's also a lack of face options compared to other races.

Some might say their small heads are a racial trait. Look at their proportions in the concept art, their small heads are absolutely not a racial trait.


With the dev team wanting to stop with adding more races, I was wondering if it would be possible to update older races, especially elezen. Making their heads a little bigger, adding more varied faces and adding mocap animation shouldn't be too much of a problem I think.

You can make ugly look any better. I'm sorry but they are the ugliest females hands down in the game.

I've wanted to be an elezen but their faces are incredibly bland. They all look too similar & there is no uniqueness between them
Their faces are too small, and their chins are really pointed like daggers
They have no jawline to give their face a better shape
They need new faces that have more attractive & unique features
Elezen need a skin revamp- natural blush, new facial features, skin tone touch-ups & contouring & more face varieties.
They need a colour revamp- If I want to dye by elezens hair red, her eyelashes shouldnt change with her hair colour. That should be optional.
Some of the faces lack any shading or contouring & just look like plastic- not to mention most female elezen look manly

They need longer hairstyles (that are flattering, similar to Venat's hair)

Male Elezen need Beards- why Cid is the only person to be able to grow a beard is beyond me

I should know better than to say this but...
As if non-elezen players ought to have any say in how elezen look or move.
It has been 10 years, most of us are not stuck coping with how the elves look by now.

You know what would be a cool way to satisfy new race lovers, but also people that want updates? Third clans for each race that edit the race in ways that fans have requested, or that might be interesting new additions.

I.e. Elezen looking more like a traditional or half elf. Short Au Ra Men. Dual colored Au Ra. Short Viera. Black Mage faced Lalafell. Etc.

That isn't any less work for them than creating new races, and they've said the reason for not doing more races is a workload issue.

At most (my own speculation, never suggested by the devs), we might get extra races that have exactly the same body models as existing ones, but it sounds like they don't intend to add any more to the range of gear models they have to manage.

That's not true. It is work, but they could just tweak the models they already have and make them special in some way. Perhaps they could even be unlockable. It would be cool to have some racial stuff to earn in this game.

It's really no less work than to redo the Elezen like people are asking.

They're almost certainly not doing that work anyway, so you can't use that as a measuring stick for what else they'd be willing to do.
