FFXIV in general has some early 2000s ux design. Let us automate something but we have to click through a bunch of menus to see the results. Have retainers sell items for us but we need to again, click through a bunch of extra menus to get to it. a simple "collect all" shouldn't be that hard to do, if you can get one item, you can program it to get all of them.

bonus: go ahead and count how many buttons you press to repair all of your items (equipped and unequipped)

It took them forever to take the Mogstation out of the 90s and add an actual store site for the game (which functions about as well as something from the 2000s) so...they are getting there, just at a snail's pace. It's obvious where this game's profits go though. Basically, anywhere but here.

I was kind of disappointed in this myself. For the cost it's ridiculous having to still have 3 separate clicks for EVERY ITEM ON THE LIST.

The only advantage to this is being able to just let it go for extended periods, so you don't have to visit the island every day.

After giving it a try with my animal pasture for a few days, even 200 cowries per day isn't bad, though I'm currently using 160 per day. And they keep them fed, which means double loot from just about every animal I own. It sort of pays for itself if you keep the workshops going. I've been keeping 2 seasons worth of projects going at a time too, so even at 200 (when I get there) it will basically be pocket change. That said, a "collect all" option would be nice. Clicking each animal individually is a bit tedious.

It rolls off the tongue easier I think lol But yeah, I will edit my post. Thanks for pointing out my typo.

Some comments about things I've seen in the last pages before my post:
    • If you are just selling to mammets and not doing the workshop, good luck with that. By far the slowest way to ever obtain cowries if you want to buy something from the mammets. If you would take 10 minutes out of that day of yours and plan out two weeks of crafting in three workshops, you're going to make at least 10k a week, not even trying. I never check supply/demand when I schedule my workshops out for two weeks.
    • If you are worried about not having enough items for your crafting, there are two things to look at:
      1. The workshop item you craft literally tells you that you have insufficient materials to craft an item. When you craft, be sure that every craft has the efficiency bonus, so they make two for the price of one and you aren't just burning through and wasting material.
      2. The more efficient method of checking materials on hand - use the damn button in the interface. It literally tells you how much you are short of what material not only for this current season, (week 1) but the next season as well (week 2).
    • Spending cowries to have them collect animal leavings and feed them I believe is the most efficient method to caretaking animals, especially if you cannot log in daily to feed/collect. The garden can sit if you can't get to it, it's like housing gardening. They won't ruin and collecting them can be on your own dime. If you can't collect 1200 cowries a week to care for animals, you really shouldn't even bother with I/S, because you aren't to begin with if you aren't making that much.

Seriously, you'd have to not ever go to fail at that island, and even then, that's questionable. Some of you make it sound like it's harder than Ultimate raids. It's the easiest accomplishment in the game.

At this point I don't care if it's slower. The mammet factory has ruined my tropical island and I refuse to engage with it. I don't want to spend ten minutes thinking about it.

Anyway, this is a game for the long haul. As I said earlier, I can get 150 cowries per day from the crops and 100 from the granary, maybe a little more if the mammets will collect leavings without feeding the animals. That's around 3000 per week including the bonus for collecting 100 items (granary takes care of that goal).

So it's a minimal-effort waiting game from there onwards, and the real world goes all too fast anyway. I don't know how we got to mid-September again.

I do agree with the OP about the caretaker services.

They really need to add a "collect all and continue caretaking" and "collect all and dismiss caretaker." The 100/day and 200/day should have that added benefit. Especially with the pasture. What I'm essentially paying the pasture caretaker for is so I don't have to do this:
    - once per day right-click and feed 20 times
    - once per day right-click and collect 20 times

Yet, when I pick up the leavings, I have to click 40 times (right click, left-click). That 200/day is only buying me the benefit of not walking around. That's it. And I also question the method by which they feed the animals. Are they feeding them at 4am EST during when leavings drop? Are the leavings snapshotted before or after feeding? I have no idea. I did the pasture caretaker once when I was on vacation for 4 days. My average yield when I do this manually has been 35.5/40. I've measured that over two weeks, so maybe I had a bunch of good days. When the caretaker did it... 32.5/40 over 4 days. Could just be RNG. Or it could be that the leavings drop when the animal is content and hungry and then it feeds it immediately afterwards to make it gleeful at 4:00:01am. Then it degrades to content over the course of 24 hours. Hard to say.

But if we are paying 300/day for services, SE should consider adding collect-all to make it more worthwhile.

Can't change the feed without dismissing the caretaker and paying the initial fee again and using up a feed immediately in addition to the daily one. Like who would have thought players might want to change the feed at some point. No need to include that in the design, haha.
