Sadly, they have no reason to separate pieces or lower the price. They know that people will buy these things no matter how expensive they are.

Oh come on, no need to go full Sasuke. During ARR and HW the devs/SE had to prove themselves. Meanwhile many called SE the EA of Japan due to the SE's money hungry ways and questionable decisions. Once XIV became top dog, what did you expect? Let me tell you the secret that will make you laugh at all of this...

It's a video game, don't sweat it. There will be more video games and there are plenty of video games already made that might be better! Have you played all of them? I bet there are some pretty good ones out there!

For fans of FFXIV, I recommend asking anyone who's played through Final Fantasy Brave Exvius prior to the pandemic how the game is treated.

Square is notorious for being rather greedy and jumping the gun if they think it will net them money. The real issue is people who actually fall for that and keep paying them. As long as there are people willing to buy Mogstation stuff, people willing to buy FOMO figurines for an in-game emote, they have no reason to stop. And we can say "protest with your wallets" all we want, it never works out. I'd like to say "Well, at least this hasn't gotten to Blizzard standards". But I know better than to do that because complacency is dandy until they push, push and push and suddenly we're actually worse than Blizzard.

That would be absolutely lovely. The street glam for example: I like only the top and the pants(sort of, not sure I'd buy that). No way I'll buy the entire overpriced bundle.
It will never happen, though.

The gloves are attached to the top? I didn't even notice it was one item! I think it's just the act of making these pieces available that, in their mind, justifies this new pricing model.

It's a bit like if your spouse spent all this money on the computer, including a copy of Windows for that PC, but had to pay an extra $5 for each extra app they wanted, like Notepad, Internet Explorer, or Paint.

No, it's not.
What came with my spouse's PC is what came with it; the RTX 3070 that was recently added to drive the new 49" double QHD monitor didn't, that cost extra.
What came with a FFIXV subscription is what came with it, and not all the stuff in Mog Station did.

You want the Mog Sation stuff for free? Do you think developing it was free?
Some of it may have been, being adaptations of existing assets.
But AFAIK the Fat Cat Coat is new, so someone had to create it.
Same with the SDS Fenris mount, the only cash shop "cheat" in the game AFAIK.
Developing the coat and the mount cost money.
Should that cost be borne by all subscribers, even those who don't want them?

You're not wrong. Games Workshop, the company that makes Warhammer 40K, have raised prices on their models quite a bit over the past couple of years. I understand the cost of labor, energy, and logistics has increased quite a bit, but not so much as to justify their increases. It finally reached a point, in conjunction with other of their business practices, that I decided to stop spending my own money on their models. I still need to get the rules books and paint, but they're a tiny expense compared to the models. Will my decision hurt them? No. It may hurt my local store though, which is sad since people will still be buying GW's models to the degree where losing people like me won't hurt them much.

All I can say is I no longer find value in certain of GW's products and refuse to support them to the greatest degree I can get away with. It's the same with the Mogstation; if I don't find value in an item I won't get it. In fact, I probably won't be buying anything from there again for years as I got everything I want from it during this past sale.

When a business holds a significant or dominant market share, they can get away with a lot that they couldn't before. Once they get to that point all we can do is "vote with our wallet" and feel good about sticking to our principles even though we know it won't amount to even a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme.

I like the coat and booties but they really need to improve the hood. It is really bad. If you look at it, it has just sliced off all your hair etc so the top of your head looks weird and so do the sides as chunks are basically cut out. They really skipped out on the effort it would take to make that hood suitable. For the price of the outfit this hood is unacceptable.
