Yeah, I've been trying to stay behind all of my rares so far. It just makes sense to me, whether it actually makes a difference or not. Even if it doesn't, it just feels right. As long as I'm continuing to get fairly consistently results, I don't mind taking that extra caution. I'd rather spend an extra minute or two on a capture than have to spend a half hour gathering more materials for nets/restraints/soporifics thanks to successive misses and failures.
Just got twinklefleece on the first hit with the 'makes sense' method.![]()

This Paissa I swear...It's making want to drive its entire species to extinction. Most times, I get one or two attempts before it runs away. Tonight? 17 nets in one spawn window, nearly 2 hours ET. 17. I'll let that sink in for a minute. I started with 14 and had to go gather more materials in a hurry. And it still ran away. I hate this game sometimes.

Finally got my Goobbue, which means I already have all the rare animals in my pasture. For the sake of simply trying out, I did the "sneaky squeaky"-method one last time (I ain't gonna capture anything else once I have all!).
They smoked 26 of my soporific before I got tired and just run up close to throw the 27th... only to finally subdue him, lol.

I'm curious how fast you're firing those things off to go through so many. I never got into double digits. Finally got my Goobbue, which means I already have all the rare animals in my pasture. Just spam click.
Usually it’s the time spent when you need to craft more after you run out of traps in mid of hunting that eats away the limited time. I missed the alligator several times thanks to only managed to catch their 3m windows & was unwilling to craft more than I needed… turns out that sucker smoked a total of 45 soporifics across 5 spawn windows before they finally convinced to come along… yeah, at that moment I wasn’t going to let bad luck make me waste more time stopping & crafting vs actually trying to capture. : pensive :
End result I have 8 soporifics left unused. Oh well, that’s a small price I had to pay for my impatience.

I would recommend giving the target time to reset. It sounds like the restraints just go to waste, as if it entered a slight invulnerable phase like regular mobs do.Just spam click.

I agree. Capturing these rare animals is just an effort in annoyance rather than fun due to the RNG of the capture rate and weather.
