Insant Portraits too difficult to change w/glamour

If your portrait reverts back to default, it means you haven't saved the current appearance to your gear set (the top-right spinning-arrow button in your character profile screen). Assuming you use the same pose for 10 jobs, you will need to change into these jobs and save your appearance so that the portrait will work properly. You will also need to re-apply the save-appearance if you change gear or apply a different glam on your current gear.

I had this issue the other day and nothing you suggested fixed it. I don't even know what I did to fix it, I even made a brand new gearset, never changed out of the job or my glamours, and it still said it didn't match. It started doing it suddenly and I didn't have the problem prior to it. It's clearly not working as intended.

Toggle the visor mode -- even on stuff with no actual visor -- and save the gearset. You'll then see the instant portrait no longer matches, and you can edit/save it to update. It will then start working again. (If the gearset does have a visor you wanted in a specific mode, you can then toggle it back to what it was before, save again, and update the portrait again.)

I have no idea why this is necessary, but since I stumbled across it, it's allowed me to fix the PvP instant portraits 100% of the time.
