I agree! But arguments based on character customization would arise either way.

There is no in story reason to give Roe's tails, as they never had them to begin with! This isn't XI, and these aren't Galka. And let's be honest, other than hair styles they don't look like Galka.

as a taru i always hated galkas, and hated them a little less without the tail. but if their users want tails like they used to give them otherwise make new races..

I'll keep it short.

You intended to make FFXIV a whole new game in its own right. New story, new world, new battle mechanics, new FF. Yet staring us right in the face is a constant reminder of the origins of FFXIV. The races of Eorzea are near direct copies of those found in Vana'diel. You did this to help transition your player base into a new client. You felt it was the 'safe' thing to do.

Well that's just dandy but you left one VERY important aspect out. The Roegadyn deserve their tails back. I don't care if you say they aren't Galkas. They are. If you are going to recycle the likeness of a race for profit and gain then you dang well better face up to responsibilities that en-tails. You must be true to their nature and the fact of the matter is Roegadyn do not feel primal anymore. Lack the aura of boding yet calm power that the Galkan race instilled in both friends and foes. As it stands we are just plus sized Hyurs and it feels very very wrong.

All we ask is this. Give us back our tails. You can further corrode the lore and majesty of the race by inflicting additional genders but at least give us something iconic and comforting as a severance. Post your thoughts fellow Roes. I've spoken with as many as I can find and there is a staggering amount of negative opinion towards the loss of tails from FFXI players. I feel this is the general consensus of the majority of Roegadyn players and thus your paying customers.

I don't know about you but I hate the lack of distinctiveness between the races. As it is we got Hyurs, Short Hyurs, Tall Hyurs, Hyurs that cosplay as nekos, and bulking Hyurs.

There is a logical explanation for all of this: Evolution by Natural Selection.

Speciation over time has produced a galka that has lost it's tail: Roegdayn. They are not the same species but they may look it. This is because they are sister species if you will. The reason for the lacking tail is lost to time. There are rumors that the last Umbral era produced terrible famine throughout the world and that once friendly factions went at war with one another eventually consuming their fellow foe aas food. Some say galka tail was a delicacy that has long ago disapeared. At the turn of the astral era a new wave of peace fell upon the nations races and the appearance of new races came to light. Roeg being one of them.

The same can be said about Tarus and Lalas, they look awefully a like but Tarus have much bigger heads. Some rumors have been spreading that big headed tarus were eaten by the other tribes during the last umbral era which led to a near extinction of the Tarutaru race, luckily a few small headed tarus survived and the genetic bottleneck effect led to a new race known as Lalafell. It goes without saying that taru brains are as delictable as galkan tails.

Which is the primary issue. Roegadyns are heavily based on Galkas. There is not way to deny that fact. The reason for having look-a-likes in FFXIV was to un-trench SE's FFXI players from their 7 year bunker of Fort Ilikeithere. The whole idea was to make their old players feel more comfortable during the transition but it seems in their haste they forgot to mail the tails to the correct forwarding address. Everyone else got a very recognizable option for recreating their character while Galkas... kinda got the shaft. I enjoyed FFXI but I do want this game to have its own way. To introduce new ideas and give us a new Fantasy to believe in. However I also want to feel like the 4 years I faithful paid them wasn't in vain. Being robbed of the option to reform Zaaku in a close simile is just heartbreaking after all the time I already invested.

As for why.... lets call it an acute severe inner ear problem! lol
There doesn't have to be a grand sweeping deep complex reason for the tail, just stick it in!

I also like the evolution of the races idea, the tarus are much taller not just mage wood people.. there will be a new one with the interbreeds and 2.0

If mixed races were added i could see a Roe with a tail.. Kitty + Hulk = Cat monster...
