    This seems to be the guiding principle nowadays; how can life for the devs be made easier. Complexity, properly applied, creates nuance and allows for skill expression. This is what gives a game long-term fun and depth, as players have a much greater "area" to cover in order to fully "beat" any given portion of the game. But it's a bitch to balance appropriately, and SE seems to be adopting the attitude of keeping things as simple as possible in order to remove any kind of balance issues that may arise.

    Of course they're failing at it spectacularly based on how things have been in this recent tier. This then begs the question; if the current approach of "simplicity leads to balance" actually doesn't lead to balance, then why maintain the approach? Suffice it to say my once-unshakable faith in Yoshi and his team has been right and properly shook. First the disastrous 6.1 job "adjustments" and now the worst balance we've had between the jobs in a very long time. Combine this with more and more people coming to the same "it's easier for the devs" conclusion and I am not optimistic for the gameplay future of FF14.

    I'm not worried at all for the story, music and artwork. But I don't play an MMO for it to be a visual novel. I need that engaging gameplay. I need to know that the devs are designing jobs and encounters and content with an eye for depth and longevity, not this "one size fits all" approach they've been steering towards more and more.

    I agree. The push for jobs to all be on similar burst windows just means everything feels the same and uninspiring. I much preferred how jobs handled in ShB because they feel much more rigid now

    You mean homogenizing jobs for the people who will never actually use the 2 min burst window and don't care about optimization was a kick in the balls for job design and balance? Say it ain't so! SE would never make the game dumber and more difficult to balance for the sake of $$$?!

    SB was the best in terms of job design easily, it didn’t have the wild swings of HW balance but the jobs felt distinctly different and all played interestingly, ShB is not as bad as EW but still suffers from the “every job feels the same” problem and while in partial to HW SCH I can at least understand balance was not great in HW

    EW is 100% a regression from ShB though

    looking at it from a dps perspective it does be seeming depending on job class its sb or shb. Either way, it still had the same timing on the raid buffs and thats what I feel is the major point that ew misses.

    the fact that tinctures still have what, 17 seconds on cd during your 6 minute rotation sucks
