I've been playing FF games for over 20 years...

I have to agree, this is getting a bit stupid. It reminds me of the WoW player boogeyman, which is equally fallacious.
Whoever uses such ridiculous stereotypes to discredit the other side is on the losing side. I wish so much energy wasn't wasted talking about the imaginary Twitter crowd (and now newer players apparently?) and their demands. EW has enough of flaws already, there's no need to invent an enemy.

The weirdest thing to me about the WoW player boogeyman thing, is that no one cared about WoW back in 2.0. Like, it never came up. Instead, it was XI that people were told to go back to. Another FF game.

Because WoW shared more similarities with XIV than XI did.

I mean yeah, you do post a lot of contrarian-sounding stuff, but saying that that's all you post is misleading. Latest I remember you posting was a thing about the raid story, to which you said you agreed it was good and people were surprised by it.

And there's just so much skirting around and eggshells people have to walk on in these forums. No, the plot isn't perfect, and it's fine to point out issues with it. It's people's opinions, they're entitled to having them and expressing them. If you disagree, say so. If you can't see eye to eye, as long as people are being reasonable, just agree to disagree and move on. He's not the only one, so many people expressed their concerns and distastes with the game's features and design choices. Not just here, but elsewhere too. Even in-game.
And then they say "Oh but they're not the majority! No streamer or reddit user says anything bad"...
You can't say anything bad about the game as a streamer. Those who stream the game typically want to get into the community's good graces, and since the trigger word is saying anything bad about the game, they end up feeding the loop. Those who say anything bad are instantly called out. Every time. Every time someone says the game isn't to their liking, boom, people dig up whatever they want to dismiss the streamer.
And then, Reddit itself tends to downvote posts they disagree with. People are discouraged from posting criticism about the game. There is no such scrutiny here.
Moreover, the developers themselves have already said that they don't pay attention to other social media platforms for feedback other than their official forums. So when you have something that's usually unfiltered and you know the devs will look into, this tends to garner the most criticism. Which is why it seems like that's all people do here, and why it's easy to say "the forum is made up of a loud minority".

Except... no.

The game has flaws AND it has winning points, but this is the only place said flaws will ever be addressed.

We all know fans who used to enjoy the game have gradually felt off. And he's not the only one who feels that way, otherwise he'd have no traction. But it comes as a surprise to no one that there ARE flaws and questionable design choices, more so lately. He just has no problem pointing them out. I don't agree with everything, but I do see some points he makes and. And of course, people react as if he's the devil. When really, it's because y'all react that way that no one wants to say anything. Why bother? To be demonized? To have flaws be excused away?

Sure, some stuff sounds like nitpicking. But if the man sounds like he's nitpicking, just say so and call it a day, you're clearly not gonna change his mind. Literally what's it to you? DISCERNMENT is the word of the day, kids! And Square Enix is made up of adults who can discern whether or not he's valid and justified.

Ooh!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing what they're going to do with Krile! Mever expected her to play a more active role in FFXIV than she already has, but this is exciting! Can't wait to get travel around with her and get to see this "goofy" side about her. I quite enjoy her relentless teasing of Alphinaud and Estinien's hilarious description of her. So it'll be interesting and fun to see Krile getting a taste of her own medicine for once. xD

Also, I assume her next new outfit will still have cat ears since that's basically her whole theme when it comes to her clothes according to her background story.

I also wonder why type of Job class she'll switch into. At the moment, she's a conjurer, so I assume she'll be some sort of caster or healer job. I can see her being a Scholar. I like thw thought of seeing Krile with a book and her own little cute faerie companion. :3

As long as it's not another Lyse-esk transformation, where suddenly she pulls back her hood, looks completely different and suddenly she's the center focus of everything, and my WOL is expected to hang out with her and be her friend.

Newer players rushed into the game and demanded that there be no stakes and that everything be fine because they wanted their comfort game but didn't want to put in the effort to find one that already existed.

Honest question, have you played other JRPGs? How many do you know where the entire cast dies? Even in the Final Fantasy series itself it's not something that happens in every game. And it's very rare (not unheard of, just rare) for a main cast death to occur at all. I'm not sure why you think new players rushed into this game demanding anything. This expansion has felt the most like one of the old school Final Fantasy single player games to me more than any other expansion. If they're drawing in anyone, they're drawing in the core Final Fantasy audience that was kept away by this being an online game. Which is exactly the audience they were trying to draw in because they had gotten that feedback that single player fans wanted to experience this one.

Maybe she'll pick up a caster job and dual-class for trusts. More dual-class means fewer other characters we have to keep around for every dungeon.

I suppose this might be another post to potentially bookmark in order to keep track of the points being raised but as has been pointed out in the past it is specifically being requested that there are meaningful lasting consequences for at least some of the major protagonists.

Not just throwaway side characters of little relevance who are created with the intention of dying horribly. Not only antagonists and villains who are predictably given a sob story to induce sympathy and then unceremoniously killed off.

The occasional character on the level of Alisae, Y'shtola, Urianger, Raubhan, Nanamo or Merlwyb actually facing death in a meaningful and well written fashion would do wonders to portray some actual stakes.

I'm not convinced that one sided magic and world altering abilities are particularly engaging, either. Wanting more fantasy elements does not necessarily equal wanting them to manifest solely as an excuse to shield the major characters at almost every turn, especially when the story is written in such a way as to disallow the antagonists to score any meaningful on screen victories.

I want a compelling story and lasting consequences would achieve that as far as I'm concerned.

As has been pointed out over the numerous past occasions where the 'this is not Game of Thrones' line has been spouted, many of us aren't asking for mass death for the sake of mass death and are instead asking for death to occur where and when it makes sense. Cladding the bulk of the cast in extensive plot armour simply sends things in the opposite direction.

I would humbly suggest bookmarking this post if you're able to. It might help refresh your memory next time this same point is raised.
