Poll: Would you like to see Shantotto as a character in XIV?

I vote yes for Shantotto, but honestly if I had to pick one FFXI character to come over to FFXIV, it'd be Lilisette. To me she had a much bigger character impact in the game, that and I think it would be AMAZING if they brought her in as the NPC for the Dancer job quests. Gotta love dancer, best job in FFXI.

There's no reason to bring someone from another game just because she was a great character, you know there are still place for awesome new characters on the series.
We have Raubhan, Merlwyb, Kane-E-Senna, Gaius, Nael, Cid, the other Legatus, Midas, the Emperor, Urianger, the old characters (Thancred, Yda, Papalimo, Y'shtola)... and a lot of characters that we don't even know about.
Let the devs tell their tales. I'm pretty sure they can come up with great stories.

If the OP suggestion was to bring her as a cameo (like a boss in the Crystal Tower), yes, definitely would be an interesting idea, but if the OP idea was to bring her as a storyline character, then no.

I voted no. Just because I would like to see if SE is actually able to create a new character that can outshine their old in originality and charisma.

For now I have to say that the FABOLOUS Hildibran wins it all .. and I hope to see more of him in 2.0.

I agree however to have Shantotto as a cameo, or a lore element, a reference, but not an actual character. The game is recently borrowing several functional ideas from FFXI and It's ok because i would like a functional game .. but it would be really sad for them to "import" characters from other saga as main characters of the plot .. totally cheap.

FFXIV reminds of the anime Fairy Tail...if you seen all the episodes you might agree...to the direction of where things are headed...

I hope the people in guilds are as vibrant as those in Fairy Tail. It would be nice to see magic branch out like that in Fairy Tail as well...

How about... FFXIV comes up with original characters of its own? I think that would be a good idea.

This here. The writers just need to create characters that have more of an impact than they do now. They had a good start with Hildibrand. (even Yoshida gave him a nod in his last letter about being very memorable) I think at this point in the game they need to flesh out the heroes (and villians) from the main scenario and grand companies and further develop them so that people will refer to them more than "that guy from that cutscene".

I agree with this. A cameo for Shantotto (caused by dimensional travel of some sort) would be a nice touch but as a central NPC it wouldn't work. Unfortunately FFXIV is lacking in FFXI level characters, though the new detective duo are a great start.

I am all for 'nodding' toward characters from other games... Maybe as an unimportant NPC or miniboss battle that only a few people would know the significance of (but honestly, wouldn't making her a boss that you can kill be doing her an injustice?) I am not okay with her becoming integral to the plot of the game, however. I like the characters we have, and I like the story.

I am really on the fence with how I feel about them keeping the races essentially the same except giving them different names. Yes, everyone could 'identify' with what they were before, but it only pushed people more in the 'let's compare this to FFXI' direction.
