And the way Ravana looks overall, makes you wonder if the Gnath's god was originally a Garlean who they began to worship because of their "godly" display in combat and command over large swaths of troops.

That is an interesting theory. The gnath do use rifles too if I’m mistaken. And the Garleans love their firearms.
