    Yesterday Leveling Roulette with friend
Right at the start, the second DPS wasn't moving until they wrote they need to brb. Okay, don't care, we can keep pulling anyway.
Then they said something came up and have to leave.
Also ok, life happens.... aside the fact they just went offline and did NOT leave the instance...

Yeah way to avoid penalty, pretty rude in my eyes... we couldn't kick them until after the first boss.

I suppose you'll defend that? You're both friends though, so I doubt you'd ever bother considering the fact that your dear friend could possibly do anything wrong.

I'm a very simple person. If you want to disagree respectfully, then we can disagree respectfully. The moment you start taking shots then I won't hold back anything at all.
Did I defend anything? No, I didn't. I'm also a simple person: I don't believe in taking shots just because someone else offended you first. That's all. If someone disagrees with me disrespectfully, I shrug it off and move on. Strangers on the internet and all that. And since that's exactly what we are, despite what your statement of me surely blindly defending someone to the point they can do no wrong in my eyes suggests, that's exactly what we are and that's why my opinion will hardly matter to you. Nor will mine change.

they know one fight well and on one class. Several of my friends do savage and ultimate, they may be outstanding healers in Ultimate but terrible dps or vice versa. I do savage but tank is by far my weakest role and you'd probably see me running around with 4 vuln stacks, forgetting to voke when the other tank died or even accidentally pointing a tankbuster into the party because I forgot it cleaves. If I had a legend title, someone would probably tear me apart for it. I still play well on healer and a couple of dps classes.
Maybe they bought the title, maybe not. Maybe they were on a class they rarely play. The result is the same either way: they played obviously poorly but focussing on a Legend title (or a mentor crown for that matter) is silly in my opinion. I don't have higher expectations for someone that has a mentor crown, a Legend or Necromancer title. Because what they did to earn it doesn't necessarily translate to the rest of the content they're doing.
I expect basic competency from everyone in every content because leeching off others is disrespectful, especially if it's done deliberately by doing something else. I'll never defend or support that. I simply disagree with focussing on titles and icons when someone plays poorly.

eh that's not too bad. My weakest role is healer which I play so little when I tried healing a dungeon with some fcs mates I realized I didn't remember what any of the buttons did. and of course we got dark knight tank... he did not have a good time

Was playing a black mage in P7 normal when I noticed a fellow black mage was consistently at the last emnity. I took a quick peek at their cast bar during the fight and all they did was cast Fire 1 spam, Blizzard 3 then Paradox cycle. No fire IV or anything. It kinda irks me as a BLM player for some reason.

I had the worst Orbonne run today.

My alliance were all first timers except me a Dps and another Dps. We were doing fine and pulling our weight, until 2nd boss at around 20%hp and I see that wipe coming from miles away. Tank A purposely provokes and cleaves the entire raid, they even kept bragging about it!
I assume the tank was in a premade party cuz they weren't kicked, they all kept messing with markers on people and being all around obnoxious the entire raid.

Second try and the same tank was trying to wipe us again but thankfully our tank managed to hold aggro and we downed the boss. On 3rd and 4th bosses we somehow didn't wipe, or should I say there was no way for them to wipe us with tank busters.

I love Ivalice raids and was so glad I didn't get another CT in alliance roulette but this was miserable... Please for the love of the twelve, don't be an asshole.

I, more than once, queued for something, accepted the queue, alt tabbed and then forgot about it(meaning: I was afk for a good chunk of the duty/kicked out). I'm sometimes impressed that I wasn't banned yet.
(In my defense, I'm a stroke survivor with memory issues, but still, must suck for those who queue with me when it happens)

Figured I'd do a "quick mentor roulette" before bed. You think I'd learn by now, because that is the way to guarantee that Mentor Roulette will yeet me straight into some ARR (or sometimes Heavensward!) extreme fight... and tonight was no exception, as I find myself in Garuda EX with 7 first-timers. Now, I should note I actually enjoy when extremes come up, because it can be really fun to take sprouts through their first experience with content where mechanics actually matter; the only facepalm-worthy part is that it inevitably happens when I choose to do "just one more roulette before calling it a night". As I said, you'd think I'd learn by now...

But no matter; this is doable. "Before we pull," I say, "are folks familiar with the mechanics? Because you can't really just brute-force this fight." But alas, reader, it was too late... for the tank had already enthusiastically hurled themselves into the wind-torn arena, with the rest of the party close behind.

The first pull went about as well as you would expect, and we shortly wiped.

"Well," says one of the party in chat, "apparently we do not know the mechanics." But no problem! This time, they all huddled up and we discussed the first two phases; I told them we should try to tackle those first, and then we'd discuss the later parts (because otherwise it's just a ton of information overload all at once). Another couple of tries, and now the tanks are pulling apart the adds and soon, hey, we made it to the Spiny Plume!

...unsurprisingly, we wipe, as I had not yet covered that part.

So we huddle up again, and this time I explain Thermal Low and the way we can use the shield to protect against Garuda's painful return. It takes us a couple of tries—people accidentally kill the plume with AoE attacks, but folks quickly realize what's happening and start focusing down the Razor Plumes individually to leave the Spiny Plume alive until Garuda poofs. Another couple of pulls... and this time, the primal falls!

Much rejoicing, congratulations to folks (and a warning that queuing into extremes via Duty Finder is a recipe for very long waits in the NA datacenters, and it's probably more effective to make pre-made parties), and everyone heads out with the warm glow of victory in their heart.

Honestly, those parties are the whole reason I run Mentor Roulette.

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.

8-man pops up in mentor queue. About four minutes and four withdraws later it finally settles on Dead Ends, where the healer instantly bails and the other DPS has to leave halfway through the second boss.

But even stranger than this was a mid-pull Grim Swathe that somehow missed entirely, despite it being a targeted attack (lone mob hung back then moved forward during the animation). The only indication it went through was the 50 gauge cost, even though it didn't yield a Soul Reaver charge. Maybe cone attacks have always been able to miss, but that's the first time I've noticed it.

Also worth mentioning: during a mandatory Great Hunt EX yesterday, someone disconnected right before a wipe in the second phase. For whatever reason, this put everyone in limbo for about 50 seconds during that weird transition where you can't do anything, only ending once the disconnecter's body vanished.

Leveling roulette as a DRK. Got Qitana Ravel.

Dear leveling AST, I no longer care as much as I used to do with 0 dps healers; I no longer care as much as I used to do with semi-netflixing healers; but at the very least---for the love of God---take off Benefic I from your mind in any duties above lv26. If you ever wondered why healing those w2w was hard, you're ironically part of the issue(s). You've experienced a goddamned 46 levels worth of time as an AST /playdead

Then again, when was the last time I get to use DRK's Abyssal Drain with satisfaction? No wipes at all, thankfully the SAM and BLMs were decent. I think those two comms came from them.

You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."

Was going to do a leveling roulette last night as DNC. Got into it, and it was 6min in prog. Apparently they had a "DC". Now, whether it was a true DC or a "Why do we have an archanist in The Aery?!" "DC" I'm not sure...but I left after the pack that we worked on and just went to bed instead.
