Threads that take turns like how this one did is precisely why people get so frustrated that their feedback is being stifled by others and not being listened to. In any case numerous other games are set to release soon, many of which will likely not have as controversial a story as Endwalker did and they will be better for it.

Also just to clarify some parts on the story further:

Q: I am interested to know how unsundered Ascians such as Lahabrea, Elidibus and Emet-Selch avoided being kicked into 14 pieces by Hydaelyn.
A: As you think back to the text towards the end Emet-Selch did imply that Venat let him live unsundered. In fact Venat did intentionally leave a tiny floor in her Sundering attack - a crack that Emet-Selch can wiggle through. Sort of like…yes it was a powerful attack but intentionally chose to do it in this fashion. So we said this in the actual game as well which is when Hydaelyn did the attack, it was a really strong one. It was delivered at the limit of her power so she couldn’t really fine tune it. So as intentional as this was when she did that big massive light attack that sundered the world, she couldn’t guarantee that Emet-Selch would live and she was kind of making a gamble. In fact what happened was, at the time that Hydaelyn performed the sundering, Emet-Selch was with Lahabrea and Elidibus (the time he was already out of being Zodiark core so he’s a little bit different than his original but nevertheless he was there) so they ended up joining forces, and escaped to the rift without being Sundered. You may recall if you read Tales of the Shadows that Elidibus, when he came out of Zodiark he ended up losing some of his memories as well as some parts of himself and that’s sort of the point in Patch 5.3 and when he “dies” you sort of know that he lost a lot in the process as well just like Emet-Selch. So yeah, basically they worked together at that time and escaped being Sundered.

I'm just going to say it: The Ascians are, in essence, Venat's controlled opposition. She knew what they would do, and paved the way for their existence, while they were unknowingly acting as agents of her plans. Even if Emet-Selch hadn't come out and said this in Ultima Thule, as many people have been pointing out in this thread their proclivities towards spreading chaos and resetting civilization through great destruction every few thousand years is exactly what Venat's ideals call for.

I know your next response is going to be "But the Warriors of Light, she was trying to stop the Calamities!", and you know my response after that will be "We don't actually have evidence the WoLs ever stopped any Calamities."

Yoshida himself said that Venat working very hard behind the scenes to ensure that the timeline proceeded in accordance to how it should is a valid interpretation of events. That is my interpretation of how it all went down, that Venat intended for all of this to happen and worked to make it so. Are you going to disagree and insist that this is an invalid idea?

Endwalker had a lot of things that it should have gone over and explained/showed both on-screen and more in depth. We could've gone without the burger and classroom scenes, along with the inaccurate Venat scene at the end of Elpis if it meant stuff like this would've been more fleshed out in game.

Do you mean character-wise or appearance? Because I cannot say I really agree. There are plenty of really well-written male characters in the game, many of which actually manage to escape stereotypical tropes that RPGs can sometimes latch upon them. Like, in the main cast we have Estinien , Alphinaud, Thancred, G'raha Tia. All very different characters that have throughout the expansions had times to shine. Not to mention the supporting cast with characters like Hien, Aymeric, Raubahn, Ardbert, Hildibrand Helidor Maximilian Manderville ect. Plus the Ascians, the majority of which are male and include the best written character (imo) in FF history. I agree it would be cool to have a more gruff strong-man like character (Who is shirtless most of the time…) and certainly think more cosmetic options for male looks should be added, but I do not see how male characters themselves are neglected.

Hrothgar are still gender locked, the ears were only added like a week ago and third party mods fixed the issue in a week.

Some people are just so emotionally invested in this game that they take criticism of the game as an attack on themselves too, and they aggressively defend it by going after the criticizer. It's why we occasionally hear stories of FF streamers getting harassed or doxxed.
