Do people on these forums only complain endlessly?

FFIX did not glorify suffering or use humor in such a heavy handed and inappropriate way and I am shocked that there people who would compare it to FFXIV. In any case, I suppose that the more time passes and the game loses us more serious fantasy fans the more the reddit, twitter, and other sites will come to be populated by these new players who don't seem to want or care for a story that actually balances levity and seriousness.

I cannot recommend Endwalker to those of us who liked stories like FFIX, FFX, Dragon Age Origins, Elden Ring, so on. This expansion did not respect the game world nor its characters and upended 10 years worth of lore and storytelling to tell a story which fell apart in too many peoples eyes compared to even the likes of Stormblood, which at least didn't push its message in a way that was as badly received as Endwalker's.

I loved Elden ring, I got the platinum . I also really liked endwalker.

And I find it hilarious you mention ffx. That game had a ton of silly, cringy moments.

Funnily enough I do keep flipping between FFIX and FFXIV as my fav Final Fantasy games. I love both for very different reasons. Anway, I would still recommend the game to any fan of FF or fantasy stories. It was not the most perfect ending to the ten year story, but it ended up being a lot better then I initially feared! At worst it has narrative missteps and could have used more time for-building (Is that a word? Is now!) but a very enjoyable, epc adventure. I do hope for those that do dislike it, 7.0 will be more to their liking. Lore is always the most engaing part of a game I find, and it sucks to see people off-put by it even if I dissagree.

That said, I cannot help thinking that if the games story is as bad, in as many peoples eyes as you say, then the criticism would be a lot more widespread. You know, get the kinda community-wide hate that say, WoW’s lore and GoT S8 got from even their most positive ‘echo chambers’. I will not pretend to be an expert who has read every number, but it seems like most reviews from fans and critics are positive. Sure reviews should only be seen as guides and opinions, never objective judgements, and over time opinion of it will likely fall. I think it may very well be more divisive then Stormblood (Poor Stormy, I still love you and think you are the third best expansion…) but nothing is perfect, and Stormblood did not kill the game. Neither has Endwalker from what I can tell.

I feel to say this is the only place that serious fans can talk is a bit of a slap in the face to many people who do genuinely care for the game. Some almost describe it as if this place is Amaurot, with Zodiak protecting it from the Dynamis that is too much positivity. This place ain't immune to the toxic sides of fandom, both positive and negative, nor should other platforms be so written off just because a pendulum swings more in one way then the other.
