I would actually agree the lack of any consequences for the main cast is getting rather tiring, bear in mind when I say consequences I don't mean just death. The characters simply just don't have lasting effects from things that really should have left some kind of mark. Let's take Y'shtola's use of Flow and her blindness for example, it is never a negative for her aside from it draining her own life force which honestly I think the writer's forgot about. Is it ever shown after we were told it is draining away her life to use aether to see that it impacts her and her decision making? No because she goes on to use Flow again later and never seems to bring up she is on a shorter timer then the rest of us as reasoning behind her actions. Thancred has a similar issue of aside from a few throw away lines his now lack of being able to control aether isn't ever a real problem. Consequences don't really mean much if they can be largely ignored which seems a lot more prevalent in ShB and EW. In fact I would go so far as to say the writing as it stands is far to willing to bring our old emotional moments instead of creating new ones with familiar faces that even those start to lose what once made them moving.

Yeah that would just be my one major critique with the way the characters are being handled now. Not that I want to see them constantly struggle 24/7, no at this point everyone is clearly in their A game now but the fact that at least so far the writers have been ignoring Y'shtola's blindness and waning life force is jarring as they haven't played into those details for as long as I can remember.

I think literally the last time that was even brought up was back in main Shb when she asked Urianger how the night sky looked once we've brought it back at Raktika.

There's a couple of other issues I have but unlike aveyond who has terrible takes (and tastes imo) I'm not one to want to just discard her or the rest of the Scions since they've been well established into this game's narrative, and I enjoy their characters. But I would like or hope to see more personal struggles in the future, or at least more to be done with Yshtola as she the only Scion we have at this point contributing towards the current story.

To be fair, ever since they changed it WE get our Artifact Gear "handed to us" as well. Not saying that this is a good thing, but still....

Ah, I remember the days when you had to EARN the best gear for your class in an MMO. What halcyon days they were, full of kicking, and screaming and Barrens chatting. Still better than this method, though I fully entice anyone with misgivings to come forward. I accept all comers. ;3

In what world is artifact gear the best? It's just glam a week after it was handed out, never mind when people actually got around to anything above Expert.

I mean, maybe if you could augmented versions from past expansions. Which did have to be earned, whether through grinding, Eureka, or an Extreme, so your complaint still makes no sense.

Hmm, gonna disagree heavily on most if not all of this. Funny that you mention that of all things, however since the mods on this forum DO frequently take the side of those who defend Endwalker's plot and my posts have been removed in the past for posting quite literally the same words another poster who praised the narrative instead of condemning it was permitted to remain.

Also, you are lacking in Language Arts rhetoric yourself if you believe this for it too is inaccurate. The fact of the matter is, many people do indeed take issue with various dilemmas in which 6.0 and beyond were handled and the number continues to grow every day as shown by the uptick in posts I've seen here and on social media decrying Endwalker's failings. None of those you accuse of foul play are under any obligation to reveal every particular person they debate with just because a select few onerous folk make unsavvy demands, and any who would dismiss the points they would make on that basis alone show their full hand so to speak on lack of knowledge on how debates work.

So if this is true, then why do threads criticizing Endwalker still exist?
Why are there still many posts talking bad about EW still around. I see Mr Aveyond's posts still exist. So...your Heavily disagreeing because you dont like my post or something?

I never argued if there wasnt a group of people who agreed with Aveyond or not, my criticism is the Volume of people, because they make it sound like there is this MASSIVE group that agree with him, when the opposite has been shown. And so far the best they could muster is one little Reddit Page. And then they mentioned "The people he talks to" which has no number attached to it and can mean anything.
Also Ill say it again....If you are just voicing your opinion, saying things like "Many people" is not voicing YOUR opinion. Im not challenging you to tell me WHO, but if you act like these Others are enough to base your argument on and present it in a way that you are objectively Right, and we need to listen to you and your group of mutuals....statistics would be nice.
Because I witness quite alot of excitement and engagement IN game, and from streamers, twitter posts, youtubers, My own friends/People I talk to and the like.

Hmm. Yeah, you're right it is a valid question and I'd take it seriously if it weren't for the manner in which it was phrased and what it followed.

"The point Aveyond was trying to make" is that it falls flat when the Scions' suffering and despair is presented as representative of how virtuous the Sundered are as a whole, over a mountain of corpses who undoubtedly suffered more and failed Venat's rigorous test. It fails when the Scions are far more privileged and get many things (but not all, of course) handed to them in as convenient a cosmic manner as humanly possible. It makes for a rather unimpressive moral narrative, overall. 6.2's MSQ "anime fller plot" as some other user on this thread called it proves this. The Voidsent we've seen so far bear no resemblance at all to the vicious, conniving demons we've confronted in the past and it shows. They are now either cowardly wimps who refuse to unsheath their claws and fangs or super-simpy morons who drool over their latest slave driver. As a RPer heavily invested in the possible heirarchy and culture of the 13th, this disappoints me immeasurably.

As ever, and while I don't speak for Aveyond of course I reckon their main gripe with the story in 6.0 and beyond is that it lacks consistency and fails to mesh with what we'd gotten from the narrative previously. This concern is not hilarious, nay frankly it's rather understandable and I share it.

I understood his point....but Im just pointing out that those words in the same sentence is weird. Aveyond says alot of weird things that I both disagree with, but sometimes just find very humorous. Its why I still come here despite how nasty it gets on the forum.
I cant expect you to know and read every post Ive made, but Ive stated I agree with Aveyond and Theo and others on some of the points and Criticisms they bring up. FFXIV is not a perfect game, and EW was Very enjoyable, but does have its problems. Nothing is perfect, there is always room for improvement.

That said....he still says silly things XD

You're not wrong though. In most games power upgrades whether for mmorpg characters or fixed protagonists in single-player games come after some kind of growth/struggle. Them being handed to the character so effortlessly like in Alphinaud's case is certainly unique, but not in a way that is in the game's best interest.

He wasn't just handed some random stuff. It was the gear his father used being passed on to him.

It's the same as when Ezio opens the chest in Assassin's Creed II with Giovanni's Assassin gear in it. The legacy is being passed on.

In ancient Sparta, as with other nations, the weapons and armour of their fathers were handed to their sons, their swords, their shields. Hardly new. I see no issue in Alphinaud being given his fathers weapons, "Your father used these on missions, bear them well."

In case it also hadnt occurred to you, his father would have KNOWN who had taken them...who do you think it was gave them to Ameliance? OF COURSE he wants his son to be well armed, Alphinaud was ALREADY capable of the healing arts, his father would want weapons he himself trusted to be passed to his son, about to go into danger.

Lest you forget, WE are handed soulstones and armour when we unlock a new class.
