Would love to see them delay savage release for a month out of spite for the dataminers, and just say if it happens again, no more savage.

Community would literally kill the dataminers.

Community would do nothing other than cry about dataminers about content they don't even participate in at all.

Hate to tell you this, but what they datamined wasn't even useful or much of anything that would help clear the tier. People also datamine non-savage related content like glams, npcs, MSQ dungeons, ect... so I guess bye-bye to those because Dixie has a misconception on how datamining is used!

So if anyone wondering; No the datamine doesn't do anything for world first.

All they gather as info is (and no, i don't datamine just in discords that keep it in its own channel for those not wanting to see it):

-- Boss attack visual effects (Which is just them playing the animation of the attack. The cilent has ZERO info of what the attack does and where it is done because that info is on the server side).
--Debuff icons (some are never used so yeah and the ones that are aren't even tied to a name on the cilent, all server side info)
-- New emotes/mounts/triple triad card/armor/weapons and where they're from/how much they cost/what achievement is required (which we will get/see within the 1st week of people playing the content)
-- New gathering node location with timers which what stats are required to mine it (number crunchers then do the info later on in the day to know whats the best melds to hit all breakpoints and have higher proc chance for more mats)
-- New materials needed for crafts (useless bc crafters can see within minutes of logging in)
-- Boss models and zone areas (Normally they're A posing with all models used in a fight lithered around the arena. SE has encypted these in the past multiple times to prevent dataminers from spoilering the bosses. What I been told was that TEA final boss, P4S 2nd boss and P8S 2nd boss where encrypted so people had to wait for streamers to see it.)


So yeah...zero use in raid scene first as they are just gonna wipe to the mechanic and review their recordings to see what killed them on top of looking though the combat log tab to read debuffs and see who was instakilled by messing up. Its up to SE either or not to encrypt boss models to hide the surpise from people who do datamine.

But sometimes its helpful bc the patch notes never say where something new is for simple things (which they wait like till the next big/major patch to add that info to the patch notes): like for example a new triple triad card is buyable with MGP...which I don't think anyone wake up when a new patch drops and go "oh boy, better go check the triad vendor in the golden saucer to see if a new card is added!"

Many complaints here in the forums are merely uniformed reactions from people completely ignorant of the context and consequences of the "offending" feature -- who then double-down by refusing to acknowledge or remedy that ignorance.

The only reason to datamine something connected to World-first accolades is to use the data to create virtual versions of upcoming fights so mechanics can be practiced ahead of time.

There was (is) a web program (that was either leaked from those trying to keep it a secret) or the people who created it just willy-nilly thought it was okay to share it, but someone created something that could virtually reconstruct every fight in the game as long as the data was available, i don't know if it still exists, but people were sharing the program during that really large wave of World of Warcraft players.

I remember thinking when i saw this program: "Is this not against the ToS???"

But people still datamine normal raid bosses and MSQ stuff. You try to make it about difficulty of the content but it really has nothing to do with it.
As long as it's in the client, people will datamine ANY content, even if it's about stuff that's going to be widely accessible only a few minutes later.

I think you're conflating a lot of different things there.
It's literally impossible to practice a fight before it's released. Simulators exist but have nothing to do with datamine, as fight mechanics CAN'T be datamined (it's all server-side). It's just a basic recreation by using observation and fight logs from the live version after it's been released. Someone could do it in Unity in a few days if they wanted to, by just using clears videos as a reference. It's not rocket science.
It's also hardly a secret.

People will datamine whatever and whenever they can in every single video game. It's up to them to accept that as a fact and figure out a deployment process that eliminates the problem.
