They are working to improve character appearance in 7.0 -- that's the earliest we can expect any real change.
And I think better make-up options would be a worthy addition.
I don't like having to choose between eye shadow and blush, and frankly, the blush options are too limited.

Don't underestimate the amount of effort that this requires, though: this is a new facial appearance subsystem we're talking about, and while that might not be too difficult, then you have to take every existing character in the game and convert it to the new system while keep the appearance as close as possible to the old one. And that could be tough. But it does seem to be what they are touting for 7.0.

As long as the Aesthetician can alter make-up (i.e. you don't need a Fantasia to do it) then the conversion to the new system only needs to be "good enough," since the player can then fine-tune it without incurring any real-money costs. And if the conversion doesn't give a "good enough" result? Well, maybe a Fantasia or two for every existing character should be included with every purchase of the 7.0 expansion pack ...
