Why wouldn't he obsess over it? Lots of us played galkas for years on FFXI, and now suddenly everyone but the galka have options to look pretty much like they did in FFXI. Playing a character for years, you tend to build a bond to it. And while other people get to look much like they did in vanadiel, the galka... dont.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying roegadyns should be forced to have tails. but add in an subclan that looks like the galka, (tail, more beastlike face, 4 fingers instead of 5, etc) so that those of us with nostalgia for their galka chracters can be happy too!
I'm sorry but the lalafell and miqote look less like their vana'diel counter parts than Roegadyns.
Perhaps under intense scrutiny. The faces and noses have become more human and the ears more pronounced. Although when looking from behind in the 3rd person camera at a distance of a few yards it is all but a mirror image of the FFXI counter parts. Which is the angle and perspective you are viewing your character 90% of the time. From the Roegadyn's point of view things have vastly altered from what we're used too.
This man said it better then I ever could. We feel left out. Like a piece is missing. Everyone else got to import their character from FFXI while we am left with this strange, unfamiliar avatar. I did played FFXI for 4 years and I became very attached to my Galka. Hell, I have hundreds of photos of various adventures and triumphs with my LS and there I am in each one. The Roegadyn on my screen now is alien. Not close enough to make the connection. May as well be playing a Lalafell for all closeness I feel towards this new interpretation. Which is the opposite of SE's intended goals of making their old fanbase feel at home in their new game. Why wouldn't he obsess over it? In the end that is exactly why we have the FFXI races instead of completely original and new ones. It would have been just as easy to draft up new options all together or modify other FF races (FFT being an obviously popular choice) but they didn't. This tells us that they want players to carry over their legacy and history. Right now that is not happening for many previous Galka players. All they want is to feel like we're continuing the Fantasy instead of starting over from scratch.
IT IS ALLLLLIVEEEE
Lmaaoooo! I had no idea anyone cared about this rofl! Not trolling but its really funny to me that this is an important issue in the Roe community. Good laugh lulz. Anyway carry on, I hope you get your tails back. Bahahaha you sir have made my day! But seriously, hope it works out for you guys. I'm not a Roe so obviously I could care less...but I dont see why Roes cant have their tails back.I'll keep it short.
You intended to make FFXIV a whole new game in its own right. New story, new world, new battle mechanics, new FF. Yet staring us right in the face is a constant reminder of the origins of FFXIV. The races of Eorzea are near direct copies of those found in Vana'diel. You did this to help transition your player base into a new client. You felt it was the 'safe' thing to do.
Well that's just dandy but you left one VERY important aspect out. The Roegadyn deserve their tails back. I don't care if you say they aren't Galkas. They are. If you are going to recycle the likeness of a race for profit and gain then you dang well better face up to responsibilities that en-tails. You must be true to their nature and the fact of the matter is Roegadyn do not feel primal anymore. Lack the aura of boding yet calm power that the Galkan race instilled in both friends and foes. As it stands we are just plus sized Hyurs and it feels very very wrong.
All we ask is this. Give us back our tails. You can further corrode the lore and majesty of the race by inflicting additional genders but at least give us something iconic and comforting as a severance. Post your thoughts fellow Roes. I've spoken with as many as I can find and there is a staggering amount of negative opinion towards the loss of tails from FFXI players. I feel this is the general consensus of the majority of Roegadyn players and thus your paying customers.
I don't know about you but I hate the lack of distinctiveness between the races. As it is we got Hyurs, Short Hyurs, Tall Hyurs, Hyurs that cosplay as nekos, and bulking Hyurs.
As Roe, I do not want a tail. I never played FF11 and have no desire to have such things from it. I picked being a Roe, not those weird unisex gylka things.
Thank you.

Like a good stalker, I'm always there.
/display tail off :P
Galka without tails is the best thing that happened to these UGLY characters from FFXI.
I actually like them now and I am about to change to Roegadyn Female when they put them into the game, DO NOT ADD Ugly tails on them, they are fine as they are.
Can you imagine Merlwyb with a tail? o.o
