Galka without tails is the best thing that happened to these UGLY characters from FFXI.
I actually like them now and I am about to change to Roegadyn Female when they put them into the game, DO NOT ADD Ugly tails on them, they are fine as they are.

Can you imagine Merlwyb with a tail? o.o
Lol, my thought exaclty. xD
I'm rather against tails. I don't play a Roegadyn but I like the race a lot and want to choose them as my NPC fellows (want a female roegadyn friend in 2.0).
Neither can I agree upon the idea that they all look hyuran-like because I think that's a personal view and to me all races are pretty distinctive.
The only character I find a bit too similar to a human is Merlwyb herself, but only ingame, that is. I like her perfectly well on the concept art (maelstrom "homepage") because she has this rough hair and a grey-blueish skin colour while she is 08/15-Caucasian in the game. I wish they would change that for 2.0 because somehow I think that makes her look much tougher and gives her more authority.
But I guess they won't.
I'd be ok if there were differeft tribes, one with tails, one without.
(Somehow I can rather see hell's guard roes with a tale. Probably because their lore is more "beastly" and the vulcano issue reminds me of dragons...Dunno why I can't imagine them so well on the sailor tribe.)
I wouldn't mind more distinction between the tribes but I'd prefer to do this by details. For example except for the tails and colour schemes mi'qotes look the same. Both can have patterns/paintings on their face and have narrow pupils although the lore said that the first is a characteristic trait of the moon cats and the heterochrome and narrow-pupilled eyes of the sun cats.
So anyways, I think there is already a lot distinction, that might be emphasized a bit more but overall I'm very happy.
I can also rather see the Roegadyns as a more humanuid race (I never played FF11) and I like the fact that there are women amongst them. ._. Why shouldn't there...And even though there is this striking similarity to FF11 (.........) I still wish to be FF14 FF14 and not FF11...just my opinion.
