Endwalker Story sucked and it's time to admit it

Now that the honeymoon period is over, I'd like to say that Endwalker's ending sucked and just flat-out ruined what could have been a great story.

A spoiled brat with, daddy issues, destroyed an entire civilization because life is so "mean". What an awful ending. Also, you don't just introduce new characters that late in the saga. Just terrible storytelling.

"Oh no, someone dares to criticize FFXIV!? quick, get the noose!!!" <--is what I expect from the loud minority here who rejects any real form of feedback because "feelings" but, this needs to be said and facts are facts and that's that.

that's your opinion, doesn't mean everyone else shares it. I think endwalker was the best expansion story personally. and a few lines from you isn't going to change my mind on that.

Endwalker fell short of the standard I held this game's storytelling to, so I went so far as to retell the story myself. I believe this speaks for itself as to my thoughts.

I liked some aspects of Endwalker but it has proven to be a very divisive expansion - especially for a lot of people invested in the story and those who simply enjoy logical, consistent world building. The strange attempts to justify genocide and paint the culprit as a 'herois' is also rather strange.

The decision to artificially conclude major ongoing storylines in the same expansion also left them with not enough time to build up naturally and breathe. Even in the most recent patch things are arguably moving too quickly.

My entire problem with endwalker centres on Elpis, time travel of the WOL back to Elpis essentially removes the choice of any antagonist except Hermes and renders almost the entire lore meaningless, everything- venat’s actions, the ascians, the unsundered, the scions, it has all been reduced to “fulfilment of the conditions required to send the WOL back to Elpis”

Elpis should have been a large solo instance where you play as Venat, then give the free area to a second area of garlemald so the actual area of garlemald doesn’t feel like a “set piece with just a bit of everything for what the story needs”

The actual conclusion, sharlayan plot and the loporits I didn’t really have a problem with though

Could have even kept the journey back there, just remain a ghost no one can see and just observe some key events to take that knowledge back to the future.

That sounds like a pretty good idea that would have been pretty good to go through. I'd include no Venat keeping memories. Changes it to a "this is what led to everything."
