Either this is a troll or OP didn't temper his expectations properly and expected an instanced housing solution.
As someone who wasn't necessarily excited for IS, I have to say they blew my expectations out of the water. I had this big smile on my face the entire time I was going through the tutorial and probably annoyed my boyfriend to death with my repeated "I'm so happy right now."
Obviously the loading issues are annoying and I kinda question why they hooked it to the same servers as housing but I would assume it'll go back to business as usual in a week or two when people start getting their hands on savage.

I like the IS so far. It's what I expected it to be because I base my expectations on what the devs actually say to expect rather than what I personally want it to be.
Only thing I'd want them to change, is please make rewards tradable. Firmament and everythign else, even Unreal, has tradable rewards, only untradable ones are usually the ones that denote a certain prestige (like doing hard content) and I don't think the island counts as prestige/hard content.
Just let people who don't wanna do the island spend money and people who wanna do the island make money. That way everybody's happy.
You don't have to enjoy everything in the game.
My biggest issue is how the game doesn't respect your time. It time-gates you as if that's expected or somehow a good addition to the experience. It is absolutely not.
They need to work on it more to really make it shine. I get there are people who aren't going to complain because they really do like what's going on here, but the further you get into this content the more you'll realize It uses inconveniences as a way to stop you from playing. They didn't even bother to increase your exp yield from gathering and kept it at a static 10 exp per node. This is blatant disregard and disrespect to a player's time if they want to move up quickly in the ranks and see what it has to offer.
You may be okay with it, but there are those who are not.
Wrong, there needs to be a balance between reasonable time investment and the point where it becomes time gated content. Idk i think some people, especially you atm, don't have any idea what timegating actually means. My biggest issue is how the game doesn't respect your time. What would be your alternative? Getting everything day one for free and then be done with it? I bet you would be also the first one that would cry that there is no content. There has to be a timesink obviously and this is completely and utterly optional content that works for itself if you put like one hour of work in every week. If that is too much for you, maybe you want to try one of these mobile games that play themselves for you, seems like the superior choice from your standpoint.
Honestly I kinda agree with OP on this.
FFXIV has been on a downward spiral and Square Enix knows this. Anyone been wondering why the company is making new online service games? or anyone wondering why Yoshi-p stated and I quote:
Even your-I mean our boy Yoshi-P doesn't believe that FFXIV is going to last and believes that online gaming are things of the past which means that this also includes FFXIV.“I think the very concept of online gaming will gradually disappear, Though the scale of integration may vary, there’s hardly any video games without some sort of online component these days. I think the distinction will be reduced to whether it is multiplayer or single-player.”
“I want to keep making sure that Final Fantasy XIV will be fondly remembered by many as a fun game that gave them the best gaming experience, I also want to make sure that it will remain in operation for decades to come.”
Anyone been wondering why the game has been turning into a more single player game? it's because Yoshi is planning on making 14 slowly into a single player game in order to keep it around.
you all are not seeing the writing on the wall right infront of you.
I understand many of us have a attachment to this product but the fact here is the game simply is heading in a direction you will not enjoy in the long-term. Now sure island sanctuaries are not a bad design but it's literally just WoWs Garrisons with less social features because again; the company is ultimately planning on making FFXIV into a offline game in the future.
we are losing our mmo in favor for making a single player game and you're all just cheering.
do any of you actually want to play FFXIV as a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game ten years from now? or do you simply not care and plan on leaving when Riots mmo releases?
