new Perception requirement is stupid

How is 3600 hard? Have HQ Pactmaker gear with no advanced melded materia and my Perception is already 3557. I need, what? 2 X materia?

Granted, with my base meld I have 13 Percep X and only 4 Gather X. But you don't need to Pentameld to get to 3600.

I call BS on this statement. I have full HQ Pactmaker's set with an extra +328 Perception and I'm sitting at 3560 Perception without food or drafts!

The person who you are quoting said that with HQ Pactmaker and 13 base melded gatherers guile x materia they had 3557. Those 13 materia would add 325. So the math perfectly matches, if you added 328 and ended up 3 higher. So indeed, if you can get to within 43 points of the target number without even using all the available base melds(there should be 17 slots that you can put a guaranteed materia on a full set, 15 of which can support a full guile X), then getting to the target doesnt come even close to requiring pentamelds. And indeed, i would agree with the person you quote that it wouldnt be hard to hit that target number. Either use all your guaranteed materia slots, do some light overmelds, or use one of the 10 or so foods to get you those final points. Or, you know, start upgrading to the newer set that didnt exist when this post was made 7 months ago. An un-melded set of Indagator should put you over 3500 before you put in any melds at all.

Why do you think something is wrong? All you need is a cheap food to get the last 40 Perception you need and you're at 3600.

If you're fully pentamelded, then you either prioritized the wrong materia type or used lower grades of materia than you could have (or both). But you still only need food to make up the last 40 points.
