So you would not? Just wanted to make sure this was politics in guise of being fair. That is wonderful whataboutism, yes if they have actually players their sub fee should be accordingly to the strength of their currency maybe. It's not like that isn't a thing already, russian players for example pay already 3-4 times less than the western players. European players pay like 2-3 dollars less than NA players.
So where again is the problem with regional pricing, when it already exists? I mean for all it is worth i personally don't ask that SE just gives them completely free gametime, that was just an option and i wanted to hear what the people here think about it. I just simply think you shouldn't have to pay a week of full time work just for the sub fee and yes no matter where you live.
Whataboutism only works in one direction I've noticed. It's always me and not the other side of the argument who can use it xD
My house burned down a while back, no one gave me anything for free. In fact, none of my stuff was ever replaced.Little disclaimer at the start, i am neither Ukrainian (so i wouldn't profit from this in any way) nor do i want to discuss any of the factors that lead to this problem. I think we can have a good discussion without falling into political debates. So this here only about players that get affected by situations like war.
I think by now many of you have heard about the problem Ukrainians have with their sub fees, since their currency isn't supported by SE they need to pay in Euros which can lead to them having to pay almost or even more than two days of work for their subscription. Not to mention that many of these fellow players, no matter where they come from, lost their jobs through circumstances that they didn't wanted/caused or can control in any way.
So my question is this, should SE gift people from such war-torn places free gametime? Or at least lower their subscription cost significantly so they can afford it? Most people in the US/EU have to work 1-2 hours to get the money for their sub, Ukrainians having to work basically 8-16 times (or even more) that much just to get an escape from their reality seems really really unfair to me personally.
And just to say it again, this is about our fellow players. This is not about the political turmoil that is going on around it. They are civilians and XIV is an escape and home for them like it is for all of us so please respect that and this thread.

If you're in a warzone, don't you have bigger problems than your MMO account?
Also, Zepla gets free money just for being Zepla so I'm not at all inclined to give weight to such an opinion coming from her.
To be fair, Zepla lived in Ukraine, so her take on the issue is an honest one.My house burned down a while back, no one gave me anything for free. In fact, none of my stuff was ever replaced.

I personally don't think SE should be giving any particular country special treatment for any reason. It's the same reason why I think that the housing demolition timers should be switched on again. I'm not denying that Ukrainians in the country are having a hard time right now, but I don't feel like there needs to be discounts or free subs for any given one country. If SE wanted to decrease the subscription cost for EVERYONE to make it easier for Ukrainians to pay for it, I'd respect that decision a lot more, but we all know that's unrealistic for their business model.
Why does it matter if its a Caucasian country? Are you secretly some kind of anti-Caucasian racist?

No, Ukrainians aren't the only peoples at war, and war is not the only hardship a human can face. If you were to give every suffering human being a free sub, SE would be bankrupt fairly quickly. And Ukrainian people, once they make it here, already receive more than enough benefits where I'm from
If an initiative like this is to be extended to countries that have issues with military conflicts resulting in their local currency going to hell, it should include all countries that have military conflicts, not just Ukraine.
There are many armed conflicts going on all over the world, and there are gamers in countries such as Mali or Yemen where conflicts have been going on for many years.
I think it would be great if SE would allow such players to be able to play for free, but as some other's have said, clever people will find ways to play through proxy servers / VPNs.
No.
Plus, the average Ukrainian has much more to worry about right now than playing FFXIV.
