Beachwear is proper tank gear, though. Take a look at the Shisui Fending set (drops from the Lv.63 dungeon).

The idea of having everyone run around basically naked for 3 days is pretty funny, so i'll do it too lol
Pop culture (including but not exclusively manga, anime, and video games) is full of people who, clad only in a Speedo, can shrug off hits that shatter mountains. So near-naked tanking in FFXIV is consistent with that. It also explains enhanced agro for tanks: if I was a dungeon mob, near-naked tanking would strike me as either an easy kill (a mistake) or an insult (closer to true).Beachwear is proper tank gear, though. OTOH, some gear restrictions, like Magic users being unable to cast while wearing armor, have a long history in RPGs, at least back to original D&D.
Wow, people actually do defend the game being an inventory management simulator.
I wish we could glam our weapons for 1 handed wands again past level 50 for White Mage.
I don't consider them beach gear - At the very best, it's appropriate light sentinel/guard/priest equipment for a shrine. Which is under water. At the bottom of the ocean. Where armor would only make you sink like a rock.Beachwear is proper tank gear, though. Take a look at the Shisui Fending set (drops from the Lv.63 dungeon).
Also, it came back at 2017's Moonfire event as a dyeable version, so I see this set as one of those handwave type of outfits for the player to have something nice and thematic.
Maybe I'm just not remembering every action, but it seems to me that the supposed two-handed main weapons that CNJ/WHM have are only ever held in one hand.
And SGE's "two-handed" main weapons are all "zero-handed."
It might be cool if they at least made CNJ/WHM auto-attack animation a two-handed baseball-bat swing, to justify the "two-handed" adjective. And maybe SGE could be holding a pair of VR controllers or something in their hands when casting??
Exactly. Unfortunately, some people seem to be spoiled IRL, so it's a struggle to think that way.
