Ok that being the case or not regardless, it then becomes a matter of is it worth the dev time to put in? currently and within the foreseeable future, probably not, and seeing as how busy Soken is all the time I can't see the sound team being tasked with modifying the status quo anytime soon.

Not even a question of dev time. Every mount has a field in the data on what BGM it plays. Think of it like an Excel table, you are changing one number (BGM ID) to another number. They do use different BGM tracks for mounts than the content and it could be they have some policy of "The mount BGM tracks may only use this much disc space", but that's a completely arbitrary limitation, not a technical one.

It might not be a possible thing they can do at the moment. Just look at what they said as to why we currently can't have access to I want to say retainer inventory. Where the coding is having shoved a round peg into a square hole that now has a huge knot in it somewhere down the line. I wouldn't be surprised if it was still some leftover janky crap from 1.0 combined with probably not having some one who has the skills to make this to where it'd be doable.

To be fair I would just like access to my orhcestrion anywhere in the game including in duties so I can listen to whatever I want when I want without needing Youtube open in the background. Would be a great addition and more reason to collect and buy the scrolls from mogstation.

Technically yeah, I'm using a third party tool [Firefox] to play music from FFXIV so I can listen to FFXIV music when I play FFXIV. Why do I have to jump through hoops for this when the Orchestrion is in the game. If I could listen to the music anywhere I'd be straight onto mogstation to buy the entire collection.
