If YoshiP feels the need to beg players not to fill their Glamour Dressers

It would be against their current policy: protect the players from bad decisions. If there would be the deciples of war/deciples of magic-split then it could happen, that tanks would equip dps gear and vice versa.

Which happened in WoW during The Burning Crusade Expansion (Retail) : Warriors would roll away Shaman gear in the Karazhan Content Patch because it had better agi/crit values and was a higher DPS increase than wearing plate. Blizzard's response was to include a stat bonus when you were wearing the highest possible armor your class can use.

So yeah - Give the players some room and they start doing stupid stuff.

And i do not think, that this is a bad thing when some classes/jobs can wear some gear, which was not meant for them. You can make some interesting chioces like sacrificing protection for more DPS or HPS etc. But unfortunately, it is not possible in FF14. And it bloats up the glam dresser.

Horizontal gear progression is a foreign concept to most people. Let's be real though, most "people" would rather copy cookie cutter builds than play around with the system. Not to mention the current dev's track record gives us a clear picture that we will be chasing that gearscore, ah, item level until the game shuts down. lol
