6.25 to introduce Rank Demotion. Do you think this will help or hurt the overall PvP

Platinum rank is going to be a mess...a fun and frustrating once all at once. I'm looking forward to see how games evolve for season 3.

If that were true, I'd be in Crystal right now.

Take away the ability to lose stars, and yeah you're there. At that point delete rank, because it's no longer a true competition.
I'm happy for those that reached Crystal by any means necessary. They put in the work to get there. My opinion on the Crystal rank, however, isn't going to change. Majority of people should not be sitting in Crystal. It sounds backwards to me.

Rank demotion makes sense... in a system where you play with a fixed party through a season that shares their ranking.

With the system CC actually is where you can only ever solo queue and are beholden to the whims of whatever the matchmaking algorithm decides to throw you into however, I can see this leading to more than a few very frustrated players who get the short end of the RNG stick.

All in all, this change just reinforces my decision to not even bother with ranked CC.

I thought SE doesn't take 3rd party evidence like youtube/twitch videos into account when issuing warnings and bans. Is this now rescinded? If so, I can't wait to try my hand at playing national geographic on the bots in the game! lol

If I do it I'll upload the stuff private or unlisted or whatever and just send them the links
makes the reporting process cumbersome as all get out though since it would be necessary to do the uploads first to be able to include the links in the report

I figured making it unlisted was the standard since if you made it public then you might as well issue a witch hunt on someone who might have just been in the zone and playing with 100% uptime. lol

It is effortless to climb to Crystal Rank, so you should not fear rank demotion. The system itself will help you to get to Crystal rank no matter how inexperienced/bad you are at PvP.
If you reach Crystal rank and got demoted to Plat 5, you will still receive Crystal Rank rewards, the new system will count your highest rank & rating if you are grinding top 100 AFAIK.
The point is that you don't need to worry about rank demotion.

As shown in the most recent live letter, the reward that you receive at the end of the season is based on the highest tier/crystal credit score achieved during the season. It's not based on what tier/crystal credit score you're currently at when the season ends.

They said that the final ranking is decided by your highest score during the season, but they didn't mention the rewards, afaik?

While the unofficial translation has Yoshi-P stating "If you reach crystal once during the season, this will be saved as your progress for rewards even if you get demoted", there's also one of the slides shown after the one you linked:
