Cultural differences are one of the reasons that probably dissuade them from actually doing it, but then there's the whole technology/time barrier for them. That's not to say that it isn't possible, but they've only recently managed to incorporate intra-DC, so travel within your same DC. I would argue that inter-DC is quite a way off. Maybe late 7.x, probably mid-8.x

I do think that the NA, EU and Oceania DC's could be connected even there was resistance for access to the JPN region, originally we were all together in the Canadian data centre

It's pretty well known that JP doesn't want anyone else coming into their servers that isn't a native. Been told stories of those who use English there and get kicked from duties or just flat out ignored. Another issue is that there's a fear that by allowing NA/EU to come visit that it will mess up their market boards or cause a shift in how content is run there. They rely mainly on DF for all content and have a certain expectations for said content.

The odds of us getting cross-region to JP is pretty much slim to none and personally with the way anyone that isn't JP is treated there...I'd rather not go for any reason other than to look at housing designs lol.

I have a level 90 alt in Japan and I've haven't had any bad experiences although I don't do extremes or savage so can't speak for that. I do think that the chance of cross region to Japan isn't going to happen and I think it would embarrassing to do it in other regions and exclude Japan although I would personally take that if they would do it.

JP in general tends to be isolated. That's been the culture for years and I think seeing westerners be westerners reinforces that.

That aside, I think after the problems of mass gatherings on Crystal, DC travel might not expand further.

I honestly hope not. Some toxic people left my server to one of the European ones a while back and I really don't want to see them again.
