6.2 Hrothgar Update

Goddamn it, I don't like this topic.

This is personal, and I know that the forums are NOT people's personal diaries... but christ, I just can't with this anymore.

I'm done being angry all the time at this situation. I'm done not trusting people in the community for support. I'm done thinking people will ever support us. We're not a cute race, we're not even a race people enjoy. Every damned time I think of this race, I'm both happy because I absolutely love it, but I also feel absolutely torn because of the way it's being handled. "Unfair" is sugarcoating it.
I already tried taking a break, but... this topic... f this topic right up a cactuar's eyesocket. And it's really just this one topic!

Is the story perfect? No, but I enjoy it.
Is BLU perfect? No, but I had fun with it, it was neat.
Was Eureka perfect? Hell no, but it was fun with friends.
Bozja's story wasn't fun, but the content itself is.
And yes, even the bland, overdone and overrated Scions are still characters I enjoy.
I'm not someone who dwells in negativity, despite what it seems. And even if a game is kinda trashy, I'd still like it for what it was. I can find enjoyment out of Dirge of Cerberus :| I know I have bad taste and can endure even the ugliest games if I find them fun.

But for a team that's honestly really good when they put their minds to it, they dropped the ball so hard with this race. And the way they've treated it is just absolutely shameful. I don't need to agree with the dev team every darn time, they're a group of humans and this is their product. We pay for it, sure, but it's still an expression of their creativity. I've been okay with divisive content. Because all the rest of the game makes up for it and I can just adjust. But this Hrothgar thing has gone too far and it's consistently been a sh**show. When the least we ask for is communication, regarding all the rest this team has done, you know they f'd up. And it bred a foul reaction from the community.

Whenever this topic comes up and I have to explain to people why the situation is so bad, consolidate so much crap and be reminded that things truly could have been different if people had cared, I just turn into what these forums are known for the most: a toxic cesspit. And that isn't who I am. I'm someone who enjoys this game and wants to keep enjoying the game, no matter what divisive thing comes because I can always find a middle ground and adjust to the new reality. Because it's a game I feel is worth it. This one situation is just the one thing I cannot tolerate, and it's not fun nor healthy for me.

So yeah, sorry, I don't want to get angry at people again for no reason, and I just don't want to devolve into a hate ball again. Far too much time has already been invested in trying to get the devs' attentions, and sometimes I feel Churro's right: all I've done was just make Hrothgars look worse.

Good luck for all of you who still enjoy the race. It's honestly not bad, the situation we're in is. I'll try to do the same.

I understand. I guess I'll get a little personal, too. I've been a fan of SE for most of my life now: a little over 20 years. The Final Fantasy franchise is what got me into JRPGs. Heck, back when FFXI was popular I wanted to play, but I was still a kid at the time. So, I was ecstatic when I came across FFXIV during a dark time in my adult life.

I love FFXIV: the story, the characters, the gameplay, etc. It gave me a good experience with MMOs, being my first one. I even looked forward to playing a Viera despite the limitations, since Fran was a fave of mine.

Like several others on this forum have said, I only make my complaints known because I know that FFXIV, and Square Enix as a whole, can do better and deserves better. It is a brilliant franchise, so seeing things that can be easily rectified, such as the Hrothgar fantasia problem and the removal of ears and hats, be brushed under the rug by SE is pretty upsetting.

Really, all I want is for the developers to fess up to their obvious mistakes with Hrothgar (and, to an extent, Viera). How can we be excited for Hrothgals when what we've been given so far is an utter disappointment? I know Square Enix can do better than this.

Also, Midareyukki, Hrothgar are cute and badass! >:)

I am pretty sure this was the thread I was done in, but I will post one more time in reply since I was named. It looks like hrothgar are getting an ear update for their hair! This is what I mean about being persistent! It seems they just didn't communicate they were doing such until they had something to show for it.
