Actually- I believe that they will not be moving physical servers, just changing server data infrastructure, the machines will be the very same. Of course that bears no saying if that maintenance will be long or not, and I couldn't care less.get ready then because when 2.0 hits it's going to have even a longer maintenance because this is just sending account from 1 Server to other. In 2.0 is moving all account and information from old servers too new servers i see at least 15hour Maintenance if not even longer which could have if there any issue and what not.

All I know is that for at least a day before hand I won't be doing any materia melds or moving important things in and out of retainers just in case they go missing,
The Implementation of 2.0 in itself.. is going to be awhile to do It is considered a patch, so just like any patch it takes time to implement.. and by the looks of it.. way over 1GB worth of it.. for every 350 MB= 3-4hrs 1GB Worth=11-12 hrs Then you have the Server infrastructure, Porting all users to 2.0, which like this one is in a few days is taking 8hrs...
If I was a betting man.. I would say FFXIV will be down for 1 full day for the Implementation/Server Character Transfers to the new Servers. At the very least 1 day

Im so excited!!!
It is likely we will have to redownload the entire game for 2.0, it is highly unlikely we will get 2.0 in the current patcher fashion lol be like a 10GB Download.

Wouldnt surprise me if service stopped for a couple days, and a 30 day free is given.
Yeah.. New Patcher.. Yes, Please... especially with 500k potential players.. don't want them leaving because of a 0-10kb Download rate >.<.
However, you are right it is likely since we getting new everything almost, Its like.. its a new game altogether, so Yeah I would assume it will be a 10GB Download ( a Clean slate if you will) hehe.
I have this feeling There's going to be a Bright Future Post 2.0 <3. and those 500k players that Bought the game already get 2.0 for Free anyways with a 30 day free trial.. Yep 500k people= Long Queuing times LOL I can't wait to be the 10,000 person in line!! ahahahaha
Edit: Will this mean we will have to uninstall the Current Version of FFXIV? Most likely Right?![]()

If I remember correctly (and it's been a long time since I read the 2.0 description/timeline/plans), I believe all the active players are to be sent some sort of data pack that will help us upload 2.0. I always understood this to mean a new game disk and/or a voucher to go buy the new version in a store...for free. Again, I could have mis-understood this greatly.

"September to October 2012 – Begin distribution of version 2.0 software for PC
- Begin distribution of PlayStation®3 system beta version." -From the 2.0 Comprehensive Roadmap.
Again, I don't know what this means exactly, but it sounds like more than a super huge patch.
Also for those wondering-from the same 2.0 Roadmap:
"October to November 2012 – Reinstate limited free trial period for PC version
- Commence PlayStation®3 system closed beta test"

Did they say something about downloading the new client in advance?
Also, is it possible that, for a short time, both clients will be usable?
Your Right, That part slipped my mind while typing my post lol. But even still A whole new game Downloading.. is just the same as Implementation downtime "kinda", if not worse! Except we will have to Download 10GB or something like that.. and with my Crappy DSL and 350KB/sec download rate.. I'll be there for a day LOL.. thats not including if the Download rate is with 500k people trying to Download it gets in the way LOL.If I remember correctly (and it's been a long time since I read the 2.0 description/timeline/plans), I believe all the active players are to be sent some sort of data pack that will help us upload 2.0.
