That's what I ended up doing - 6 times. One housing alt for every server in Materia plus another one in Raiden in EU. It has actually become something of a speedrun challenge for me. I purchase an ARR story skip and then level warrior to 50 and get GC rank to 2nd lieutenant. I got it down to a personal best of 6 hours 44 minutes on my last guy.

The plot availability in Materia is crazy. You can still get any dream plot except Mist 5, which is the seaside large, and Lavender Beds 11, which is the lakefront medium. If getting a house is really important to you, it's time to take action because fixing the housing shortage in established worlds is obviously not a priority for the dev team.

Assuming there are no last minute entries that end up winning over my alts, I should have 6 plots tomorrow. My main character doesn't have a house. I do enter a lottery in Balmung every time, but I'm not counting that because it's such a longshot.
