Alright, those are all great ideas.
But let's just shove them all to the side for now, and let Yoko Shimomura compose absolutely everything from now on.

That's fine with me. She's awesome.

Incidentally, she's composing the soundtrack for Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Square-Enix has already got their claws on her. Might as well ship her over to the XIV team.

I think the dungeon final boss music (Batraal, Chimera) is a great battle track and I'm a big fan of the Goobbue mount music... I think the Grand Company music is also pretty good, but overall there's a lot of tracks in 14 I feel are a bit lacking, and while I felt many tracks in XI were lacking as well there were enough good tracks to balance it and make it overall really great.

The music in this game isn't horrible but, only a few songs really make me feel grand, esp when it comes to the battles. I think battle music is the most lacking part right now. I would hope in the future to see each dungeon have its own soundtrack, like Ifrit and Moogle have their own.

I have to agree with one thing:

...And this is just my personal opinion, but we need less j-rock / orchestrated pieces, and more classic FF synth. They're trying to bring the "Final Fantasy" into XIV, and that's a great way to do it. The synths we all know and love.

Ugh, I hate synths. They work in some tracks, but generally I prefer the orchestral sound.

I'm generally happy with the music in this game, though I'd like to see more of an overall "theme song" as others have mentioned.

Right now my biggest annoyance is the Chocobo music. Being able to call your mount anywhere hasn't done that booming song any favors. Nine times out of ten I'm riding my Chocobo, and it seems like all I ever hear is that damn song. It would be really nice to have an option to simply disable mount music. When crossing Coerthas, I'd much rather relax to that music than BO-NA-NA-NA BON-NA-NA-NA BAM BAM!

    For me personally:

    Naoshi Mizuta > Nobuo.

I would much rather have him compose for XIV.

He's certainly got his charm. It'd be a nice nod to XI if he composed some tracks for this game.

I guess a lot of people think the same
And think he mainly/only composed for FFXI
And that he never worked on FFXIII-2

Well, I think most people in these forums would associate him with XI, because that's what we're all familiar with. Not to mention XIV is, in some ways, a successor to XI.

Some people have been calling for mechanics from XI to be imported into XIV, which is think is mostly a mistake. Let the gameplay of this game stand on its own. But if we want to tie XIV to XI in some way, I think having Mizuta write some music would be a great thing to do.

I like some better battle, and dungeon music. Heart pounding intense orchestral song/music. That is the kind of stuff I like with some violins, saxophone, and some drums.
