My friend has been stuck on this darned quest for more than a year now. I think he's pretty much given up ever getting it completed. So we spend most days with him tanking Gazelleskin maps (duoing them with me as a healer) or running unsynched extremes (same, duo with me as healer).

He just can't get into his head he needs to heal, and how to do that. Despite me trying to explain. And it's weird as he has no problems throwing a heart of ___ on me in an extreme. Just something about being yifftola freezes his brain. So yeah, I'd love to move on in the game, but yeah, can't do that until he completes "Will of the Moon".

But honestly, I wonder if just splitting this (and others like it) into 2 parts would make it easier.

    Yeah, I know.

I've even tried "you know how you target me then press 'aurora' or 'heart of corundum/stone'?" yeah "so, do the same thing there but press #3 (or whatever it was) on your keyboard instead".

I guess some people are just destined to never complete the game unless someone literally logs onto their account and does it for them, oof.

They've added the checkpoint system for Endwalker (and 5.5) that lets you start from the step where you failed instead of right from the beginning, so I would have thought they'd go back and add it to Will of the Moon as well.

Definitely agree that Will of the Moon needs the checkpoint between Sadu and Magnai.

Have you suggested to your friend to try the method I describe? If you burn down the add attacking Hien fast, he requires very little if any healing. He will self heal most ordinary damage. It's the damage he takes from the add's special move and AoEs that create the primary need to heal him. I would imagine that even Y'shtola needs little healing if Very Easy is chosen.

People can get stuck on story missions?

    Wow. Impressive.

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.

It's not uncommon when you decide to pull people out of their comfort zone without their consent. They don't perform as efficiently, especially when it's something they're completely unfamiliar with. They feel pressured because there's a timer in their face (even if generous) and they haven't been given the luxury of learning what they need to do at their own pace. Being mocked or seeing others mocked for any failure makes them hate the content even more so they stop giving a damn.

I can't speak for others but I came here to play a character I created in a MMORPG. I didn't come here to play a NPC of someone else's design as homage to single players RPGs I never played. I understand why SE has chosen to do it (fan service, which usually leads to lackluster if not terrible design choices) but that doesn't improve the game experience for me and others like me who have no investment in previous FF titles.

The only one that was worth it as far as I'm concerned is In from the Cold because I was my own character in that one, even if my own character in a rather bizarre situation.

    It's an easy fight.

Although I must admit that I really dislike occasions where the game forced me to play as other than my WoL.

Everyone has a different skill level, comfort zone as Jojoya says, and honestly really doesn't matter to me if the 'bar' needs to be adjust so someone is able to enjoy the game and by some of our comparisons might be quite..... 'not good' at the game. If they're having a good time that's more important. Of course if they're able to wipe me, that's more annoying and hence why I feel DF savage+ type content is a huge waste of time.. but in story content it almost always doesn't mean anything because the content is tuned to such a point that many players could be sleeping at the wheel.

Obviously not as true for a multiplayer game but if I was told you beat a souls game with cheats and had fun, good for you- in a sincere way. Cheating in a multiplayer game that affects others, like breaking the market with gil, or w.e.. not so good lol.

Well, it is rated "T for Teens," after all.
So it should surprise no one if, say, a seven-year-old gets stuck on a story mission ...
... although I've known some that probably wouldn't.
