Moonfire Faire 2022 "Summer Sunset Bottoms" should be two separate items

The Southern Seas Swimsuit is cute and can make for a lot of glams. Like for healer. I think we could use more stuff like that. The shorts for males from this event look like something you'd get out of a eureka box, and you'd get so many of them, you'd start discarding them instead of selling on the market for it's low value price. As for briefs or shorts, I would like to see more short shorts or equivalent for females, however this is not the event. I quite like the female outfit, the sandals are nice, the outfit itself is nice, It's all pretty good. I am not sure why this is so controversial here. I suspect most people in the game agree with me on this event outfit.

Haha yeah, I'm def not knocking the southern seas and I know full well how versatile it can be - I personally like it and have a pair myself. I think we could do with some basics two piece or one piece sets as far as beachwear goes. I think the southern seas will always just remind me of being a minidress since.. Well, that's what I commonly see it being worn as - not that I blame anyone ofc lol

I've definitely seen a good amount of swim trunks in that style and design, maybe I'd only change the "belt"/rim from that weird golden band to something more solid. Overall, the female outfit is nice yeah. But I personally wish for more short-shorts like briefs/boyshorts or a two piece. Excuse the print but this is what I would have in mind for a two piece at least:

I'm withholding judgement until I can try it on; even glams that don't vary by race/tribe can look good or bad depending on which race/tribe is wearing it, in my opinion.

For example, to me, the Dalmascan Draped Top + Southern Seas Skirt looks great on an Auri fem, but doesn't quite suit a Viera fem. OTOH, to me, the Boulevardier's Ruffled Shirt + Varsity Skirt looks great on a Viera fem, but doesn't quite suit an Auri fem.
Not really sure why that is.

Frankly, the male shorts are pretty bad

Personal taste is personal taste, and there were a number of people in the other thread saying they wanted to wear shorts on their female character. There was even a mock-up image someone posted, which had the girl wearing the shorts but didn't reverse that to give the guy briefs.

I'll be using the shorts with at least some of my male characters for sure. I like the pattern, and I'm hoping it will match nicely with the blue yukata from one of the previous Moonfire events.

What do you mean, "this is not the event" to be getting beachy shorts? That is exactly the sort of thing I'd pick to wear.

Also, there's nothing controversial about you liking the female version. It's just that some of us don't like it being the only possible option, especially when we get them over and over in slightly different styles.

It's definitely the case. The different proportions, poses, general vibe of each character model can make a big difference to whether a piece works well on them. It's not as simple as "looks good on female character", and male characters are even more varied.

I have to wonder if the general attitude of "gear looks bad on male characters" comes from that. Bigger range of bodies means that each one has a subset of things that suit them well and not-so-well. I play multiple characters so usually I'll find someone who looks good in a thing, but if someone just has one character then maybe they write it off as bad and not just bad for them.

There's Uraeus Breeches, they are similar to a bike short.
Works well with the Uraeus Body Armor if you like that look.

Sorry I missed this initially, but yeah in terms of beachy shorts I definitely would not peg the Uraeus armor as one at all lol.

We got a variation of that top already in a past moonfire event. Came with little masks. The Moonfire Happi. You can find bottoms relatively easy to go with them as well. Not dyable.

I'd like to see more things like the Sky Pirate casting bottoms. Less undyable parts (with and w/o leggings). A shorter version of the Spring Bottoms would be nice as well. Also, make miqo'te hempen set available for everyone (along with the others of course).

It's the scaling (size, height), and animations. Things that are cute will look nicer on something like an au ra, generally.

There are a number of people who say a lot of things. I'd say those shorts are pretty much objectively ugly, and, like I said, I can see why male players would want to wear a new pair of speedos over them. I saw the image with shorts on a female character, it did not change my opinion on the shorts.

I think I was talking about shorts in general, and this years event specifically, as I doubt SE will make these separate. I don't really want bikini bottoms to be replaced by some unisex garbage, that would be horrible! I think we could use more feminine swimsuits if anything!

Yes, I'd love to have it all. The first image would be very nice, but I'd prefer no undyable prints. The tops in the first two really would be very nice to have for various glamour ideas! One sets can work for a lot of different outfit ideas too, for sure. I wouldn't be complaining about any of this being added!

Fashion is my favorite part of the game (any game it's available really), and I'd like to see MORE and MORE (quality) added. So if you start a discussion about outfits or fashion, I'll be here for hours..

There is no such thing. You cannot say that a subjective determination is objectively anything. You can only use the term 'objectively' when you're talking finite things that can be proven or demonstrated. You cannot prove or demonstrate that a piece of clothing is ugly; a single opinion to the contrary proves that incorrect.

Nothing in our universe is objectively ugly. Objectivity just doesn't work that way.

Objectivity is based on facts and reality ("Two plus two equals four is an objectively true statement"), whereas subjectivity is based on your own personal opinion ("Those shorts are ugly...")

It's really important to distinguish the two. One is you in your own head and your opinions. The other is the real, outside world and how things actually are.
