I have to say big no to the idea of brancing off main story at end of Heavensward in 7.0 when it could make Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker main story pointless, it could make next expansion main story be hard to follow and confusing if at some point of 7.X main story patch suddenly requires players to do Stormblood, Shadowbringers or Endwalker main story to understand what is happening in the main story of 7.0 or in worst case it could ruin whole main story completely.

And other thing that brancing off main story at end of Heavensward in 7.0 is not good idea is that i would require drop level cap back to 60 and max level be 70 to make any point to do 7.0 end game content and other 7.0 content in general after completeing the 7.0 main story.

Also like some already said if you don't want do main story just buy the Tales of Adventure from FFXIV online store to skip main story to end of previous expansion when there is no point to do this branching off main story at end of Heavenswards just so you can skip Stormblood, Shadowbringers and Endwalker main story.

What Im saying is they didn’t have to release any races at all, and when they did there has been nothing but endless complaints ever since.

Not that the devs are entirely blameless for their half arse release, but if I were them I’d consider that a clear sign NOT to go out of my way to please fringe players.

On topic, if a new player should join in 7.0 and buy the newest expansion for 50 bucks, it includes all prior content. That’s $200+ value in game for 50 bucks. It’s not a big ask to have them pay for story skips on top of that 50 if they don’t want to deal with the story.

I don't understand why some people are fixed on creating a complete alternate start.

People can deal with joining a story halfway through and accepting that their character already knows the other characters.

If they want to understand what happened to their character before they picked up the story, they have the codex and NG+. If they don't care to review that, they can just figure it out as they go.

I am pleased with my race . I also think they did likely pick the most 'popular' and one of the most 'new opportunity' races in one go. Maybe 4d chess or whatever, but minus the hat issue or hair change issues that exists earlier I think gender locked races is not as dramatic of an issue as some people made it out to be. Particularly when they can then release those options later if demand justifies it. (Obviously male hroth and female viera would be the most popular of the their options of gender). Somehow they need to address their memory issue though, as I think once they are able to more reliably push the envelope on that we'd see a lot of related issues unfold in more timely ways- at least it seems often you'll get weird solutions to desires because they have to work with their limitations and those limitations sometimes appear strange in comparison to some other games of similar field.

I also love em, my alt is Hroth.

People just complain, and the devs addressed that it was a problem in a past live letter. Can’t be good for morale.

    Or maybe:

I'm not one to talk though as there are things I've complained about, heck my post count is mostly made out of feedback, wishes, and thought experiments; however, I do put a concerted effort into ... making an effort to my complaints by including how I feel, why I feel, and what I think might address it.

Particularly in some situations trying to add an extra level of self awareness, like when I was upset with Blue Mage I just flat out said "this is making me feel upset, I know it's childish, but I am trying to convey this level of emotion accurately- the game isn't ruined but for whatever reason ... I am really not happy about the situation and it's impacting my general mood right now" (a comment from the past- I am not of the same emotional mind and I appreciate a lot of the changes they've made since release, though I do have a few more wishes I hope they can address as time moves on). Also, I do try to be patient :P. "Why are you commenting on this now Shougun??" "Uh, cause we might see it in 2 years?" -- which, while maybe not relating to me, has absolutely happened lol.

Hell to the no. It's bad enough that you already have people who bought skips complaining about the quality of the story. Either pony up the cash or play the game like everyone else.

The MSQ is hundreds of hours long at this point and a massive chunk of it is just unvoiced filler fetch quests. At the very least, they could cut down on that stuff and actually work on pacing the story better to avoid those long slog moments that clearly only existed so they could brag about their expansion having a 40 hour story. As it stands, I straight up can't recommend this game to anyone and have them actually stick with it because the early game is a slog and then slaps them with that post-ARR arc that's just 87 quests where most of it is literally a running simulator. Maybe give people a choice to skip the Hydaelyn/Zodiark arc if they want to, assuming 7.0 is a complete departure anyway.

And for people harping on about players not knowing how to play -- the vast majority of people already suck at this game anyway, so who cares.

It's called a level skip pack that they already sell. Just not up to Endwalker yet.

That is probably why I am ok with letting people skip to a certain point, 6.1 probably being a decent spot, with the glossary idea that SE was throwing around.
I feel like that mentality difference is precisely what makes the large amount of MSQ in FFXIV okay. WoW is this breakneck race to get to max level and end-game, and a common theme in the past few expansions is the perception that the story exists solely to get you to max level. FFXIV is completely different. It's the journey itself that's emphasized, and the story is the central part (many people point out how it's an FF RPG first and an MMO second). They're even focusing more right now on ways to attract people who generally prefer single-player games. FFXIV gives people so many options of side content along the way, too, that there's plenty of ways to do things with other people if that's what you're looking for while at the same time gradually experiencing the story.
