    I actually support sects coming back for AST.

    Logically, it made sense at the time. The reality though, most of the pairing only happens on raid finder and duty roulettes end up with anyone/everyone paired together.

    And also, after these months since the changes with healers at 90 and playing them in all contents…I sorta feel like they made a mistake in SGE and AST’s roles.

    I think SGE should be a regen healer and not a shield healer. They use their skills to shrink damage so that their regens/trickle heals can cancel out the damage. They then use other abilities like Ixochole, Druochole, and Pneuma for larger healing injections. The shields of E.Diag and E.Prog feel clunky to me and in the end, just feel out of place. Despite having most abilities like the SCH, it would be an interesting change by being a “pure healer” rendition of the SCH.

    AST, I think Noct would’ve been a better fit. There’s two things to me that would be a strong representation of the AST: Exaltation and Neutral:Horoscope. AST operates similarly. They reduce damage, but instead of using regens, they use delayed heals. Exaltation mitigates damage, then recovers after. Neutral Sect pairs too well with Horoscope. You use the same skill to trigger them: Aspected Helios. You shield with Neutral Helios and then counter the damage afterwards with Aspected Horoscope. It’s a perfect and wonderful thing.

    I don’t know, maybe I’m just crazy. I feel like there’s still some design space for at least 2 more healers. ^_^

    Some interesting ideas. Personally I wasn't keen on the "pure" and shield" healers and feel that SE has botched the concept, that is also partially why I would far, FAR prefer that the current healers are re-worked and that we get a dedicate healer designer before any additional healer jobs get added (if ever).

    Oh, I absolutely agree!

    In truth, we actually only have 2 healers. This binary “pure/barrier” is reaching the end of its value and 7.0 they should probably consider abandoning it.

    Not saying WoW is perfect (as I left WoW for FF14 despite being a healer there for 15 years), there is something they did with the designs of their healers that doesn’t make you groan depending on who you are paired with. However, the reason is that the design focus is different. In WoW, the key word for healer design is “stress”. For example, they would want WHM spamming Cure instead of Stone/Glare and have it be a losing battle. And if you cast Cure II, they’d want you to go OOM. FF14, I think they saw that, and are scared of doing something similar as the healer drought in WoW can be pretty bad as a person who can’t heal in this stressful system is essentially the same as not having a healer.

    I mean, i would have rather had them fix the existing healers since the one new healer we got was a carbon copy of an existing healer anyway. I'd rather get no healer at all if they're just going to be a carbon copy of the same 1 button class they are currently.

    That's generally my opinion on all jobs, less so about dps because they still have quite a bit of variety. Unfortunately "we made all existing jobs uniquely different and engaging but still viable" doesn't sell expansions like "look at this new shiny thing" does.

    Not to mention that I don't trust them with statements like "You won't get a new healer because we're reworking existing healers" when the result was stripping every healer of its identity and any interesting mechanics with ShB. And then top it off with a more fluid but slightly weaker carbon copy of SCH that was sold as "the dps healer" and ended up playing exactly the same as the other 3.
    Come to think of it, I trust them with neither new healers nor reworking current healers.
