I hope 7.0's has a way to skip most of the current story

I'm thinking, maybe branch off after Heavensward, and allow players to either continue into Stormblood or the new expansion. Have the new expansion not reference anything outside of ARR and HW directly, and it stays like that. If we do need StB/SB/EW links, do it in side quests or options, and wait until 7.4 or 7.5 before introducing MSQ that requires EW, if at all.

Mechanically, let the MSQ give you many levels if you use a 60ish character, and make 71 and 85 dungeons for the first two in the expansion. Give enough quests to maybe support a second job going to 90. Then continue as normal.

Xp scaling could be set so that 90 characters barely feel a bump, for those already at EW endgame.

It's awkward, but the MSQ length is getting unwieldy. Something like this should happen.

It would certainly be ideal to make 7.0 the start of a different "New Player Experience," but I feel like the only way that would work is if they also squish the levels down to a level 50 cap, with lvl 90s being lvl 45 at the start of the expansion. It would take a lot of "finagling" to get something like that done.

Also, more importantly, it'd cut into their story skip revenue.

Yeah I'm a bit confused as to why they'd choose HW as the exit ramp to jump into whatever 7.0 will be. Now I'm not saying 7.0 couldn't be a fresh starting point, but going directly from HW into 7.0 to me would feel a bit odd and could be fairly confusing for newer people. Especially if there isn't any explanation of oh the guys in black robes are gone and Estinien is now a Scion. There's just so much that would be left unexplained if you just jumped from 3.0 or even 3.55 into 7.0. It'd be like going from season two of a show and then jumping right into the current season with no cliff notes.

I am guessing that you are missing the threads where people are complaining about level 80+ characters not knowing their jobs now.

Why would you attempt to butcher the current story by adding in a skip from ARR/HW to 7.0? What would that even accomplish?
