So still waiting for a house, tried but when you going up against 200 or 300 other people for a small house it is just ridiculous. So now I have decided I want a FC, and I started looking around only to find that those are already grabbed up as well. But wait... Don't lose hope, if you want a small free company house and are willing to risk your gil, there are heaps out there. 450 million gil for a small house in a bad location.

So Square Enix, how are you going to rectify that? How are you going to fix this black-market of housing?

Don't get me wrong... if I had the 450 million gil to purchase a house, I'd darn well do it, but for the moment I only have 90 million.

Total turn-off for this game. You promised me housing, you said that housing was available for everyone. My retainers certainly think that I have a house since they insist on making me miserable every day by returning with housing items that I CAN'T USE SINCE I DO NOT OWN A HOUSE!

Housing in this game is just like real life and that is supply and demand. When the supply does not meet the demand prices go up and vice versa. Black markets exist because square can't meet the supply so people are stepping in to do so but at a price. And they have taken measures to stop it and done a good job of it, it is not nearly as bad as it once was.

What server? Because nothing in Crystal is available. I’d be willing to move servers now that data center travel is open but when I went looking there simply wasn’t any houses with less than 20-100 bids on them.

This ...just proves that you don't pay attention. There are plots available on the Crystal DC. What you are referring to is YOUR world, of Mateus, which ALSO has plots available.
do NOT go blaming devs or other players for your own inability to do your own research.

S.E. didn't lie to you either. "player housing is available" doesn't mean Guaranteed. And there's the understanding that the market in this game is a capitalism-style market. WHICH WOULD INCLUDE HOUSING.


Also, it's odd that you say nothing on Mateus is available because I'm looking at different results

Housing should never had been a thing for FFXIV, the game is simply not designed for it or to be able to handle it at all.

The only way can make current system instanced is to make all gardens look alike depending on where it is... as soon as you step in onto the plot physical the decorated garden would load, you could even get real windows and more as well to the system and you could place it all in 1 ward per area, it is simple as that, physical location of plot not needed either, you can set that as the preset picked.. whether you want to be next to the beach or up in the Hills would be irrelevant physically, as you pick that preset you would see when you are physicall on the plot.

MMOs frequently add new features that they weren't originally designed to have. By your argument, deep dungeons shouldn't exist because the game was not designed for them. Ultimates should not exist because the game was not designed for them. Eureka and Bozja/Zadnor should not exist because the game was not designed for them. Bicolor gemstones should not exist because the game was not designed for them. And so on and so on.

Clearly it is able to handle housing. We have it.

Where the design fails is that the wards aren't able to keep up with the ever increasing demand due to the continually increasing player population. But the last thing a game wants to do is yank a very popular feature because it can't keep up with player interest. What they want to do is fix the problem so they retain player satisfaction.
