Of course you don't have to play everyday if you are a casual player who is just playing for the fun of the game simple content, but if you play a ranked content you don't have to remain on your rank and just park in there till the season end, ranking decay is a thing in every pvp game with ranking system, and mostly applied on the people who are parking in top 100 EU/NA/etc, and should be applied here if they want this new pvp mode to even be a big thing.

Why? because there are many alt character parking in the top 100 simply ruining the matchmaking for everyone.

People who don't play that often likely aren't going for top 100. This isn't about them. I hope they continue to enjoy the game as they do.
The crystal credit ranking when you reach Crystal, used for top 100 scoring, could use some inactivity decay to keep the queues going and to stop people from getting a lucky streak early on and just sitting there.
