Problems letting go of XI? Japanese too.

It was a very harshly worded post... but he makes a valid point... they made a game people obviously LOVED... and you played it and gave them your money... which I am sure they loved....

I get why people ask for elements of XI as it is the only other mmo in the series but why isn't anyone asking for elements(could be anything) from other FF titles? Did you all play the other titles or just XI and then claim to know anything about the series?

I can respect that.... Why does it bother you when someone asks why you're playing FFXIV instead of FFXI? I didn't mean it sarcastically... If you asked me why I play this game, I can tell you

It wasn't you specifically it's just people are always using that "go play ffxi" response. I mean really it gets old that anytime somebody dare suggests they add something they liked from XI that we're told to go play another game.

More like 500,000 fans, and let me tell you anybody that's in the business world knows that you don't turn on your client base, if they give you good business then you reward them. That's what I like about bethesda, Skryim was a huge sucess so they're rewarding the fans with free updates such at the new kill shots and giving us expansion pack sized DLC.

a lot of the stuff in XI are based off elements of previous FF titles, personally I would love to be able to eventually go to the moon or something like that, that was in a couple of previous FF titles, would also like some of the mini games as well. And hopefully with personal airships we will get things like in flight battles. Don't get me wrong I have never been an advocate for FFXI-2 in fact I hate the idea, I just think some of the stuff would be nice to have like choco breeding which we will be getting.

I think that's why asking for things from XI isn't a bad idea. XI was one of the most successful mmos of all time, people complain about aspects of it, well it was obviously wasn't that terrible or it wouldn't rank #4 all time. That one guy said,

But so far it's FFXIV (a game for that "casual audience") that's a 50 mil loss to their investors, in fact i'd say it's over 100mil at this point.

How about a compromise? SE announces what amounts to FFXI-2. We FFXI fans pack up our nostalgia and leave them to do whatever they want with XIV. Fix it, break it, scrap it, we won't care nor utter another word about XI until the beta for a predecessor is announced. Ok, some people might classify that as extortion, but all's fair in love and game developement.

Asking for things from XI isn't a bad idea....
I didn't even play FFXI and I understand this game could benefit from a lot of what it did right...

But it's the internet... you can't really relay tone well... and some people hear "FFXI had this so FFXIV should have it" and they think "I didn't like FFXI, so we shouldn't add that"
instead of just evaluating each suggestion on it's own merit.

In a way, Final Fantasy XIV is an odd beast... you really can't compare it to anything else...
500,000 people played FFXI... but 6 million people bought FFXIII.... 10 million people bought FFVII... 12-15 million played WoW and over 60 million PS3's have been sold...
thats a lot of different demographics to work with and try to appeal to
