On the contrary, I HAVE gardening, and I made my own minions, and enjoy making them for my friends.

100% agree they need to fix it..thats why not only and i fighting for instance housing,, But ideas like a 4 pot indoor small garden for fc rooms and apartments till they fix this (to crossbreed)..That's why I wrote "If someone only wants what can be crafted". If someone only wants the result, they are better off with the MB. However, I agree with you, some people like gardening and in the end it is them who end up growing the most demanding things.
SE should fix this ridiculous housing system or at least have different size options for apartments and an indoor garden in the apartment buildings. Since weather is an issue when it comes to gardening, they could make a dedicated instanced garden area with weather that would be accessible in a way similar to inn rooms/ GC rooms.
Also been saying the GC door should have 3 options
1-Squad room
2-Personaly workshop
3-Private garden area
Heck id even pay gil to unlock those..and they could charge per amount of plots you 1-2-3 like houses
Garden area Cold be like say a room with no roof and brick walls (EQ2 out door patio type)
I did see someone post for some reason gardens are tied to out door weather... I can't think of a reason why..The ONLY thing weather dose iseffect when you watering if its sunny you get a water can if its raining you pat the soil.. If thats the ony reason behind no in door crossbreeding thats kinda dumb...
Seems liek it be a easy fix to just rework the code so it dosent pat the soil and always use water can

Each apartment building has a "community" chocobo stable for its residents. I could imagine adding a "community" garden that works similarly to the stable.
Visually, you'd see two plots out in front of the building, one of which is yours, if you're working a plot. Anyone could perform strictly beneficial actions on any of the plots. The housing wards already have weather, so that'd come along for free.
Although one can imagine it's tied up in the randomness of the crossbreed success/results calculation, I've never seen more to this "crossbreeding needs weather to work" than forum whispers....I did see someone post for some reason gardens are tied to out door weather... Yes, I'd too also love to see the SE made statement or proof of this.
And to no-one in particular;
Honestly, I still maintain that at the end of the day, gardening is not a way to make gil. It's something done because you enjoy the mini-game behind it. I find it relaxing.
So maybe that whole gardening mini-game is well replaced with Yoshi's P Island - making house gardening abandoned content like Airships than Submarines (which are still getting small updates).

The nice thing about the instanced garden on apartments idea, it would (as you'd have to claim the spot to get it) give a more accurate view of how many people are using it.
You obviously can't show every plot, that would wreck the idea, but, 1 "fertizlise and water only" that displays a random "active" (define as claiment taking an action in it in the last 20 hours) claimed plot chosen randomly each time you enter the instance, and then your personal, IF you claimed it by asking the guy. When fully harvested this will go poof until asked for again, cleaning it from the instances.
I agree 95% the time you wont make money off gardening..Most wanna do it for in game items or because they actual like gardening....Although one can imagine it's tied up in the randomness of the crossbreed success/results calculation, I've never seen more to this "crossbreeding needs weather to work" than forum whispers.

Doing it with out inveting money into is hard. .lest it use to be when you could only get 1 grade 3 soil every 24 hours in game (befoe they added them to retainer missions for mining)..
The island i dont think will replace the want for normal gardens simple because what you grow only works in the island..
The workshop id kill for..I just got in a small fc making the last part for sub level 1 now.. for me its the housing glam in the workshop... I can solo gather all the items for a glam and make plenty of money... when they first drop 5mil for afternoon work now 1 mil or a few hours work that I can dowile i work from home ..meaning i can walk away from gathering to take care of any calls i get with no problem and not making people wait
I'll see if I can track it down. I want to say YoshiP gave it as an answer in a Q&A panel sometime back in Stormblood.Although one can imagine it's tied up in the randomness of the crossbreed success/results calculation, I've never seen more to this "crossbreeding needs weather to work" than forum whispers.

I have a feeling the underlying problem is really the garden patch needing weather to determine animations with crossbreeding needing the garden patch.
Oh, you definitely can make gil off gardening but it takes commitment and can start feeling tedious after a while.

Yea i've look for this post and all i can find is the same thing i've said.
"Weather dose not effect the plants them self However, it does have an impact on the character animation when you tend the plant"
Meaning sun = water can rain = pat the soil...
There is no other reason...
However apartments/housing are all ready tied to time... aka when your windows light up or go dark on the inside and out...So if they took out the code to pat in the rain seems like they could do it
Demonitize everything you can earn from FC's and make it FC bonusses to members of it instead then, reaping rewards would be locked to whichever FC and in need to be a member of it for 30 days to get any of these rewards that ships/submarines and gardens can bring.
Gardens in private houses, would only be cosmetic use as well for FC.
I dont see SSE doing this since there moving away from the group idea of the game and running to this game is solo able.. making all msq solo able and not group dependent..Demonitize everything you can earn from FC's and make it FC bonusses to members of it instead then, reaping rewards would be locked to whichever FC and in need to be a member of it for 30 days to get any of these rewards that ships/submarines and gardens can bring.

I have noticed a trend in main citys of alot of people not in FC's not just rp people or bots but players who dont want the fc drama
