Tell me again why we can't have instanced housing?

I do wonder if the devs might regret introuducing the Island Sanctuary. It looks like they had resources that could have been used for instanced houses and chose to use them for the Sanctuary instead. I certainly can't accept the 'instanced houses are impossible due to limited resources' argument any more. Though in fairness, it's usually people here forwarding that argument and as far as I know, there has been no official statement to that effect.
Even if it is far more limited than a house, the fact that the Island Sanctuary is available to each character, suggests a lot of resources have been devoted to it.

It's really common for people in this community to speak with authority about the inner workings of a company they're not a part of, to others who are just as blind on the topic as they are. Sometimes they'll base their conjecture off of some old interview that was loosely translated from Japanese to English, and even then it'll be an old interview so who knows how the situation's changed at this point. It's so tiresome. Like, no offense to those people, but when I ask why we can't have instanced housing I'm not looking for an explanation from ForumBrowser69 who's just as blind as the rest of us. Ideally these threads would put pressure on Square to make an official statement. Of course, that implies they even read these forums, which they probably do not.

You realize some of the people here DO work in the industry, right? Some of us went to college for Game Design? Some of us are programmers? You shouldn't assume that everyone on the forums are the equivalent of Billy Bob smearing Cheetos on his tank-top in his parent's basement.

Although some of us have and do work in the industry, I think she was saying "I want to ask for instanced housing, and am tired of Billy Bob telling me why it can't happen".

Instanced housing needs to happen. I'd rather have instanced housing than the sanctuary if I'm being honest.

You realize some of the people here DO work in the industry, right? Some of us went to college for Game Design? Some of us are programmers? You shouldn't assume that everyone on the forums are the equivalent of Billy Bob smearing Cheetos on his tank-top in his parent's basement.

I worked in the industry for over two decades and if you work too you know how difficult big changes can be. Even more for a game like FFXIV and its chaotic development history. We can only make assumption and wait for a more transparent communication from SE about housing.

true but they had 12 years to resolve this it has been an issue since housing was introduced.

As I said in another post, I don't think that housing is in the top part of their priority list sadly. So they maintain some kind of status quo with small fixes / improvement because they know that they only can fix the problem with a big investment and huge resources allocation. They must consider that it does not worth it currently. I hope it will change in a near future

The game hasn't been around that long. Housing was introduced in patch 2.1 (Dec 2013).

It wasn't originally a problem because allowing personal housing other than FC rooms hadn't been included in the original design though they announced they would add it in response to player feedback.

There have been periods in the game's history when getting a house wasn't a problem (unless you played on Balmung). But the last time we had such a period was 2018. The player base has increased rapidly since then and the increase to demand has outpaced the increase to supply.

Obviously the current situation needs a solution but I wanted to correct your belief that SE should have corrected this 12 years ago.

Games was released back in September 2010.
