As a game character you will be immortal because you won't age, but there won't be any other players, just npc's. If you die in the game it will be a real death.

At what point in the story would we drop in? Even if we aren't the WoL, is it during a particular expansion? Post End-Walker? What's happening in the world would greatly influence the answers you receive I think.

So even if I'm not the WoL, I'm still my character? Well, fuck it, I would still take it. I've already got an apartment, so I've got lodgings, plenty of clothes, a comfy amount of gil for food and other essentials.. Doesn't sound like a bad deal even if you can't teleport everywhere or hold a bunch of jobs/classes due to your limited amount of anima.

edit: oh nvm, you get to keep your character's powers and such. Ok, that's even better so I'd still take it!

Are the NPCs actual real people now or just androids with an icon over their head? If real then:

Beachside house + servants, millions of gil, Echo + physical & mystical super powers + useful crafting skills, acclaim, super good looking and immortal? Plus I get to ditch all the world ending, soul cracking responsibilities of the WoL? Hell yes!!

Worst case scenario if I really need to I could become a side member of the Scions and become by FAR the most useful Trust member the actual WoL chooses to go on adventures.

The npc will be like real people, they will have a will but will be mortal unlike you.
You will be immortal as long as we don't kill you, same for your servants / mounts / pets who will be able to follow you in your adventures and will be loyal to you.

You will also be able to do things that are not in the game like storing items or weapons in your house by buying a chest.
You'll easily know what's in your inventory just by thinking about it and can pull out any item just by wishing it and it will appear in your hand
It will also be possible to build a huge castle, there will be no housing limit.

All your skills will also be usable just by thinking about it and it will be something innate for you if you are for example a level 90 white mage to use a higher healing magic.

you will be able to do all the dungeons or challenges or raids but all the content will be unsync there will be no more sync system same for the fates

You can level up to level 90 max

the only black point is that being immortal maybe it will be super fun to be in eorzea but I imagine after 100 years or 1000 years or 10 000 years or more you will be in a deep boredom and will end up doing a 90 raid in solo to finish it

If the game has an update, new content or a new expansion you will receive a letter from the dev team that you can read to keep you informed of the new content
If the game is dead and there is no content left then the world of eorzea will stay the same forever.

If I choose to become a Hrothgar will I be able to wear hats?

Yes you will even have a huge choice of haircuts

If I'm the WoL, sure.

If I'm just my regular self, hell no. I'm not getting torn to pieces by a giant ant on my way to shovel dirt for 2 gil an hour.

Would I accept? Absolutely. The first thing I'd do, however, would probably be picking a fight with a random monster and quickly remember that this is no longer just a game, so my stay would probably be relatively short-lived. There are worse ways to go.
