This can be true but in my case, even without rules against being toxic and such, my behavior would be completely identical to how it is right now when I play. Never have I been in any kind of trouble in any mmo I've played, and I've played a ton.the alternative is utter chaos imo
although we expect everyone to be able to moderate themselves, it's proven time and time again that behind that wall of anonymity and lawlessness even generally nice people can be quite rude
i don't think until you experience unmoderated global chat can you at least appreciate what the ToS attempts to do
Yeah but that's just you. Do you really trust random strangers to behave themselves properly without the rules set in place to encourage standard social behavior?
I don't think so
You are right, I don't think random people will behave themselves at all. I've seen far too much evidence that says they'll do the exact opposite and cause as many problems as possible.
I kind of feel your approach may be the problem. There was a thread awhile back talking about the same thing and my self n many others spoke about less confrontational ways to address things like mess ups. I've been a mentor for a good bit and often give pointers. I've never once gotten in trouble for it nor do I fear it.Manners are chosen, they shouldn't be forced. We're talking about a game where people are so afraid of ToS nobody speaks openly. If someone messes up, nobody wants to say anything because of ToS. But then it's perfectly acceptable for somebody to be stalked for 6 months+, keep reporting it to the company and nothing happens.
Considering the company won't even let people talk openly in the new PVP mode, it gets to the point where efforts to quell toxicity actually damage the game in the long run by treating paying customers as if they're children and not adults.
I won't say its definitive but if you're afraid to speak due to ToS it might be a you problem (not you but in general). Basic manners aren't hard
The vast majority of toxicity in this game that I've seen has come from PF learning parties, Eureka zones, and Bozja zones. Although Eureka takes the cake as the most toxic place in the game.
Some of these posts are difficult for me to believe. I was told to kill myself and/or uninstall on an almost daily basis for years in WoW. No one has EVER even came CLOSE to being that toxic to me in this game.
For real, the GM would bring down the ban hammer on the person who dared to say something like that in this game.
seriously anytime I am in eureka I see no toxicity maybe BA but I have not gotten there yet.
I play this game since 2012 and i never saw anything like this too... in this deep as "killing myself" stuff...
Not with me or anybody else that I met in all this time '-'
Maybe we are just lucky? '-'
