No not really. Free Companies are flawed in design. At least when it comes to the housing aspect of it.
Everything in this game can be done with a dedicated 4 man team + one other 4 man team (savage raiding takes 8 but dungeons take 4). Everything else can be done via a larger group in Linkshell/pf/pug context.
But FC housing, aside from personal expression with decor and a place to gather, offer a lot of casual content that tbh, the larger your FC, the LESS likely you are as an individual to ever get to interact, use or personally benefit from it. Most Large FC's don't let members willy nilly send out their subs/airships use the gardens, decorate etc.
The actual design of the game encourages you to build your small pack of friends, that you do most of your day to day stuff with. And then reach out, and group up with others as needed. So really, I'm impressed there are as many big FC's as their are. Because logicically, it makes the most sense to have a FC dedicated to your static/team. (so 2-4-8 ish player fc's per game design, should be the norm).
GAME DESIGN though is the reason for 99% of all this.
-small group design
-limited quantity design
-special features only available in said version of design.
Perhaps if personal houses could have airships and be shared *like actually shared ownership passed* among friends, there would be less sub 10 member fc's. But, again game design leads to players doing this.
I do not deny that resellers and bots and the like aren't problematic too...but there are far more people who just want a husband/wife fc or small static fc or me and my gaming bros fc. Because *that* is the community they wish to build with.
I think SE should have waited to open FC housing until 30 days from day world transfers opened. But that is me. Opening personal housing right away was fine. Probably even good from a demand perspective/server growth perspective. But by NOT holding fc purchases until world transfers have a chance, it also imo, actively is discouraging fc's from making the transfer. And if fc's as a whole won't transfer, it will be harder to balance world populations.
