It would be seem to smart of them to want as much pull as possible to get people to transfer over to them. If housing is easy on those new servers (30 to 90 days after they open) and hard on the old NA servers, then it's possible some housing enthusiasts will also slide over and populate them.

Don't forget next summer the EU is getting a new data center with 8 new worlds and NA will be getting an additional 4 worlds added to the upcoming NA data center.

I imagine it depends on how quickly housing fills up this year. If the new NA and EU worlds fill up quickly, then they might turn demo back on sooner.

For the lottery its better to give more opportunities and not have all houses to be given away in a single batch. Since it rewards dedication by giving more chances. Even if its just 1% on a house per cycle, this adds up over time. The demolition for that reason should avoid overlap with normal ward releases.

Also 7.0 would on that be the worst moment to release it. Remember that people couldnt log in during EW. 7.0 wont be diffirent here! Its more likely 7.0 would stop demolition again. So on that it should be activated well before that time so the demolitions can finaly happen and the lotteries of those houses wont overlap with 7.0.

They restarted the demo timer after covid when things settled down, I think it's fair to say things have settled down and mostly gone back to normal. They can't leave this off forever.

The families of the 23 killed and hundreds injured last week in another bombing attack on a region of the Ukraine thought to be relatively safe from the war would probably disagree.

That war is still going on. It just doesn't get as much press here anymore.

Regardless of the status of that war, I wouldn't expect demolition to be resumed any time soon. SE is focused on the upcoming patch and the new worlds they're adding for the time being.

I don't believe Jojoya was trying to pin any blame for these people who were killed on you. You might want to calm down and reread Jojoya's post again. I think all Jojoya was trying to do was indicate that this is still an active conflict and that people with FFXIV accounts are still being effected by it. Honestly, if they turned demolition back on tomorrow, the amount of plots freed up would likely barely touch the demand that currently still exists for them. Your chances of winning a plot with demolition back on would be almost the same as before. Slim at best. The only solution to this problem is to rework housing by adding more wards, improving apartments, creating instanced houses or some combination of the three.

Are they? Name three people with FFXIV accounts and an FFXIV house that are currently being prevented from logging on and visiting their house by the war in the Ukraine. I'll wait.

This reminds me of the white "BLM activists" who were trashing Black-owned businesses, assaulting Black police officers, and enacting policies that led to higher crime rates in Black neighborhoods.

We need a term for this use by "activists" of other people's tragedies to advance the activists' personal agenda -- an agenda that the real victims may either not give a damn about or even be opposed to. "Victimhood appropriation" perhaps?

It's not "empathy," it's exploitation, and it should disgust us all.
