The Manusya mask over the Cryptlurker's? Yeah, it won't work because of the level requirement. The game won't let you glamour higher level gear over lower level gear, for whatever reason.

The Manusya gear uses the same models as the Bonewicca gear from the Swallow's Compass, if you just wanted the appearance, but it's a different color.

Not always. In this case, the level 80 Augmented Cryptlurker piece is better than the level 81 Manusya.

I was adjusting the glamour for my summoner job and I encountered an error that, according to my google search, means that I'm trying to apply a glamour to an item with a lower iLvl.

IL has nothing to do with it. It purely runs on equipment level.

Bonewicca is a lot more painful to get, though, because it's entirely RNG-dependent and you don't get free pieces.

Also, i530 vs i520 is hardly a big deal on a single piece for a DPS. It's probably only a one-point reduction on your overall IL to throw out the Cryptlurker hat and wear the Manusya mask directly.
